Subject: Wedding in 4 weeks, dress might not be ready.
Hi Girls
I am in a state of panic.. RARRRHHHHHHH
I am getting married on 7th August, and my dress is a pre-loved one, so it needs dry-cleaning before the day. Only a few wine stains and dirty on hem and train. Its fully repaired and alterations done tho.
The lady in the shop said to leave it a month before, so I called up today, and she said I have missed the date they send wedding dresses away, so won't go till next Monday 13 July, it won't come back till the 3rd August!!!
My god, thats pushing it, and what if something goes wrong, like the stains don't come out, or it gets damaged, it won't leave me any more time to get it repaired or get another dress..
I can't get married without a dress... Now I'm literally devastated and nervous as hell.
I can't believe I have left this so late, but I can't turn back the clock and now what do I do???

Phone the lady in the shop again and ask her for the number of the cleaning company that dry cleans the dresses. Ring company direclty and see what they say, Maybe you can take the dress there directly.
Or google for other dress cleaners in the area.
There will be somewhere you can get it cleaned even if you have to travel.

My friend got her wedding dress cleaned at Johnson's - can't you just take it in your local one? I don't know anything about dry-cleaning so it may be that Johnsons would send it away somewhere too, but worth checking with them. I would want to get the dress in my possession and get it cleaned asap so that you have at least a week left before the wedding for emergency dress purchase if anything goes wrong.

Ring round and get alternative quotes - if necessary pay a premium for a faster turnaround - and then get your dress out of the shop and off to the cleaner yourself. I wouldn't be happy with so very few days between the dress coming back and the wedding. Also, if they only send things off to be cleaned once a month I'm surprised that the shop didn't tell you this and tell you what the deadline date was. So I'd be even less keen on leaving them in charge of it!

I second that Pikelet! I wouldn't be at all happy about the way this lady has handled your custom. It is very poor customer service, I would demand a refund, and start ringing around pronto to find out where you can get it dry cleaned. Im sure you will find somehere dont fret hun..just breathe...and then pick up the phone..or better still get down to this ladies shop and speak to her direct.

Most dry cleaners clean wedding dresses, so I agree, phone your local branches and see what they say (ensure though that they only clean ur wedding dress after putting in new fluid - very important apparently to ensure is stays white/ ivory!)

If you have problems finding a dry cleaners, find out if there is any small wedding dress shops nearby and ask for a reccommendation. They would know the best places

Its sorted now, thank goodenss, went to Johnsons first and they said because its busy time and I missed the day they send dresses away, (monday) its not gonna be back till 2 days before wedding.
Hmm bit risky, called another reputable drycleaner chain, Jacksons, they clean in-house, which is brill and only takes a week, and its half the price, sp well chuffed. I can justify spending a bit of cash on new shoes for my hen do now!!! X
