I'd really love to have a video of my big day, but looking at local companies it's going to cost around £1000! That's the same price as my venue. Not feasible on my little budget!

Does anyone know of anyone slightly more reasonably priced based in London?

videoing really isn't difficult, you can get a fabulous video camera for £300 thesedays- and keep it after the wedding! I am sure you will find many willing volunteers, mostly male, that fancy themselves as the next spielberg.

editing suites are also really cheap now as long as you have a computer that can cope with the file size you're laughing AND you have a new video camera

I am eyeing up these from john lewis, am going to buy it as a christmas present for my dad / brothers and indicate on the sly that it is on the condition they video the wedding lol:

(not sure what you're going to do with a 70* optical zoom! that's bonkers)

keep the extra £700 and put it toward a photographer. personally I think they're worth far more and will get looked at a hundred times more.

You're completely right - thank you so much! I've just got to try to think of someone to film on the day. I wouldn't want h2b or Dad to do it, hmmm, I shall have a think!

we've had to cut down on our original budget, so we're only looking to pay around £500.00 for a video, have a look through visual bride , there are some companies that charge £450.00-£600.00, which is the cheapest i can find. http://www.visualbride.co.uk/directory/wedding_videos_london.php

Angels films look the best value, but they new answer emails :\?

Hi there we had our wedding in Kent and used this guy..
His name is Leslie Watts and was recommended by our venue.. Cooling Castle Barn in Rochester.. we also were on a budget and couldn't really afford one but we changed our photographer for someone that had just started out in weddings but had done a lot of portrait work, she worked out so much cheaper so we were able to afford les... we went for the all day package but he does cheaper packages.. worth a email!
hope this helps... oh by the way the dvd is wonderful....perfect he caught every aspect of our day and more.http://www.reason8.com/clients/wedding_videos/info2.cfm?info_id=60578

Hi there,
http://www.didamedia.com/
My friend used this company last month, basically he comes and films the wedding on a top of the range professional camera and gives you the unedited footage on a DVD. He charged my friend about £200 for this which covered about2/3hrs
He can edited the DVD for extra.

I would say its best to get it filmed professionally as friends are easily distracted wuth catching up with other friends and may not capture everything you want and you only get one chance!

good luck with your hunt!

Thanks jjones. I contacted them and they came back to me straight away, great company and reasonably priced - I think we have a winner!

My son shot ours with my brother's video camera. It's not as 'spot-on perfect' as hiring a professional videographer, but it's OK. We're still editing it and will insert a few still pictures of some bits of the wedding reception that weren't covered by the video and maybe a few shots at the beginning of the 2 of us as children/babies. A couple of nice musical backing tracks can be included too - the only bit where we're not editing the sound out is the actual ceremony with all the vows etc... My son is actually a Media student at University but not in videography (he's doing journalism). This is another avenue you could explore - make enquiries at your local college or University, the students there might be willing to do it for a small fee or even for free - plus they'd have their own equipment. Another possibility is asking amongst your guests - someone is bound to have a video camera and would probably be GLAD to do it for you. It's definitely WORTH having it done and you don't have to spend much.

Go for it!

Bamba xx

make sure you see a full wedding video from any video person your considering using, i've found that the online samples look good, but the full length video is rubbish with a lot of wobbly images...xx...
