Anyone get married at Cameo Island in Zante?

I'm getting married there June 2010 and I'm very excited but I just want to know if anyone else got married there, or is getting married there and how they found it.

Is there anything I should know???? I don't want to turn up a week before the wedding to find out its horrible and I've wasted my money!!!

Any help would be lovely!!

I haven't been married on Cameo Island but I am just so pleased to find a fellow Zante bride-to-be! We originally chose Cyprus as there were so many recommendations on this site and it looked lovely but we ended up choosing Zante as it was our first holiday together there.

Our date isn't until 6th May 2011 so we have only put our deposit down for the planner etc.

Have you gone with a planner over there?

From what I have seen through my research on Cameo Island it is really pretty! The only advice I have picked up (also through research) is that the Bride and wedding party should wear simple/plain footwear and be prepared for your dress to get sand on it at the bottom.

Yes I've gone with a planner in Zante, the company I'm using is Alexandras Dream Weddings: URL: http://www.zanteconnect.com/zante.zakynthos.weddings.php
But surprisingly I havent' had to put a deposit down! Everything is booked and in the next couple of months she will want the money for the paperwork etc, which is about 180 Euros, and the rest of the wedding is paid for once we arrive!

So far its all going well, I have secured the venue of Cameo Island and the reception is going to be there too! going for an informal BBQ instead of a sit down meal! and I really can't wait, we have exclusivly booked the island so there won't be any people wandering about sunbathing! ..lol

So where in Zante are you looking to get married?? I almost chose the Keri clifftop sunset wedding but changed it to Cameo after it had all been booked! but Alexandra was really good about it. - thank goodness!

I can't wait... less than a year to go! I'm very impressed with how organised you are to be planning for 2011!!

I know what you mean! I thought I was the only one too!

We have gone with Frances from Zante Weddings. We have paid a 200 euro deposit to secure our date (6th May) and we just need to pay a deposit for the venue when we choose one then the rest we pay when we get there (I think it's great that they do it like that!) Weve also managed to get 2009 prices and a 15% discount on wedding packages!

We are hoping to have a villa wedding - weve seen a set of 3 villas that we like:

and we are hoping to have our ceremony and reception there (really informal) as it will accommodate most of our guests aswell. We have so many options though this is just our favourite at the moment!

I like the idea of booking the island exclusively! That was one thing I am a bit funny about - I wouldn't want other people wandering around during my ceremony.

Love the idea of a BBQ aswell - this is something we are looking into for the reception at the villa.

Ooooh I get excited talking about it and it's sooooo far away!

I looked at Zante weddings, but I think I was already with Alexandra by then and I couldn't be bothered to change! lol Though Zante weddings has some great pictures of Cameo Island! I think it was their pictures that swung it for me to change venues..lol

Yeah I really wanted the exclusivity of the island, no way I want some sweaty sunbathers getting in my photos, I hate that!!! Went on holiday to mexico a few years ago and there must of been a wedding every other day on the beach, and there was always some minging people wandering around whilst they were saying their vows... bluergh.. not for me! lol

I think a BBQ is an excellent way to have a wedding reception, way more relaxed and everyone can just chill out!. Especially with have the sea right there I can imagine everyon will be doing a bit of paddling if not bringing their swimsuits for a dip in the afternoon...lol

Yup I'm getting excited too, just been looking to see when the next wedding show is in London! looks like I'll be going to the one in Oct... getting excited about that too!

Nope not been to Zante before, been to Cyprus and Crete though, thought Zante looked gorgeous though! -- Only thing slightly worried about is the heat, this year in June it was in the 30's!!! bit warm!

Yes I am also excited about the next wedding show. We went to our first one in March and met with Frances to pay our deposit - it was a great experience but was still over 2 years til weddin so people didn't seem to take us seriously. The next one will be better as it will be closer and I will be wanting to try on dresses Eeee that is exciting! Lol.

Nicola - I know how you feel with the deciding where to have the ceremony etc - there's so much choice isn't there!

Louisa - when you go out there you have to go Turtle spotting! It was soooo muh fun! We hired a peddalo and went hunting for turtles near the bay (they do boat trips but the peddalo was so much better) they come right upto you - one tried to get ON our peddalo! Haha. Brilliant experience! We can't wait to take our kids out there (Our first hol we went alone).

God I wish we were going out there this year!

Vicki: ooo I like the sound of turtle spotting! sounds like I'm definately going to have to do that. I am really looking forward to the wedding show, never been to one before so it should be interesting to say the least!! Ah the world of dresses, I know its going to be hot so I'm looking at something floaty and light, so far I've fallen in love with a few dresses from Monsoon, I'm really loving halterneck style floaty numbers! But I seriously need to loose some weight before I even think about trying anything on! ..lol

Nicola: the garden weddings are beautiful, but thats the problem with Zante all of the venues look gorgeous! I was sooo in love with the clifftop wedding in Keri next to the lighthouse, but then Cameo Island swept me off my feet so I just had to change venues!! ..lol

Wardy2be: OMG June next year at the same venue??? Phew you have put my mind at rest with how beautiful it is that was really worrying me and with the cost of it all I don't think I can afford a weekend over there to check it out! ..lol.

So what date are you getting married? which wedding planner are you with?? Ooo all these and other questions! our date is the 18th of June, so its all booked for us and for a BBQ afterwards on the island... couldn't be bothered to make people travel to another venue for the reception when the pictures I've seen make the place look so lovely!!! -- I'm even going to put on my invites for people to bring their swimming stuff so they can have a swim after the ceremony...lol xxxx

Louisa - your dress ideas sound lovely! I really want the full princess dress (hence my avatar pic! Lol) but I'm really wary about it being too big and heavy for the heat. I tried on the dress in my avatar and it is massive! So I'm hoping to find something similar but lighter - wish me luck haha.

I wish we had the funds for a pre-wedding trip over the Zante, would love to be able to look around possible venues etc before we decided but I very much doubt that will happen!

I am also really glad I've found other Zante brides! Woohoo!

It's exciting to see more Zante brides on here - I'm also a Zante bride, although we're getting married on the edge of the beach at Kypseli in September, less than two months to go now, which i'm very excited about!

I've been to Zante before a couple of times, although not to the place we're getting married, but I have been to Tsilivi, and every time i've been to Zante it's been lovely and hot! We get married at 6pm, so i'm hoping all the day time beach users will have vanished by then, so they don't make a guest appearance in our photos!

It is a beautiful island, with some more touristy areas, but also some lovely quiet places as well. Ideal for friends and family going out there as they can fly from so many of the main UK airports.

We looked at Cameo Island and it was a close choice between that and our eventual venue. We're using Ionian Weddings, just sorting out our paperwork to send them!

Louisa 31-we're getting married on the 30th of June. We were really lucky we got to see it. We went for a week and wandered along and they were still getting it all ready for the season to start but they let us have a peak, but every day after that it was closed so we never got to go back. It was amazing, I was scared it would be quite shabby, and I had no idea what the taverna looked like, but it's all really nice and bigger than i imagined.
The only difference from the pics i've seen on the internet are the white flaggy things weren't there and the little mini peir thing (not the bridge) wasn't there because it got damaged by a storm.

We're with ionian weddings, we're having the bbq too. Oh that's a good idea about telling people to bring their swim stuff.
How many guests are you having?

Pr1ncess mummy- my fiance is a ward too! Just everyone calls him and his family wardy, I cant wait to be one too!

What are all your dresses like? I bought mine a few months ago and it's totally impractical for the heat and cameo, but i just fell in love and couldnt resist.

Phew I thought I'd completely lost this tread I'd started, but with some dedication I was able to locate it finally...lol

Wardy2be, I'm sooooo pleased you given such good feedback on Cameo Island, I can't tell you what a relief it is to hear that its such a beautiful place! Ooo I hope they get the little pier thing back up for next June, I was hoping to be dropped off by boat there (my dad has a dodgy heart and i don't think he'll make it across the long bridge and up and down those stairs..lol) I'm thinking our wedding photos are going to be AMAZING!!! -- Where are you going to stay with regards to hotels? I'm still waiting on information from the travel agent my wedding planner recommended... only been waiting 2 wks... lol probably like 2 mins in Zante time...lol

We are looking at having a maximum of 50 guests, but I'm currently trying to shave that down as much as possible!!!

I haven't decided on a dress yet, well I thought I had, as they have some lovely halterneck ones in Monsoon which are lovely and not expensive either!! But then I was on here the other day and someone was on about Mori Lee Voyage dresses, so I had a peek and now I think I've fallen in love without 4 different dresses!! ..lol Just been looking to find out the stockists in the UK, and surprisingly I've found 1 in my home town!! ..lol So looks like i'll be giving them a ring tomorrow afternoon!
