Hi, Just wondered if anyone else had come across this. When i decided on my dress the lady in the shop took all my measurements and ordered my dress (Alexia 1055) in a US Size zero (even though i am an 8-10 Uk size, my measurements against the chart she has matched a zero. When the dress arrived it was far too big for me and its going to have to be taken in all over! I really wasnt expecting it, i thought it would at least fit me, Has anyone else come across this? Just wondered if this is normal?

How annoying. It is frustrating when they measure you and supposedly make the dress to fit you and then it doesn't so you have to pay for alterations! This happened to me. Cheeky!!

Frankly I'd expect them to do the alterations for free if you haven't suddenly lost weight. It not fitting is clearly their fault and I see no reason you should pay for their incompetence.

I agree totally with frog girl. I'd be asking for adjustments to be done by them for free. They took your measurements and you expected it to be the right size trusting their expert knowledge.

I thought a US size 0 was a UK 6?
They don;t make the dress to fit you, the dresess come in standard sizes and once they measure you they match it up on the manufacturers chart. You will never get a dress made for you by a designer!
Check back with the shop if you are unhappy.

The lady in the shop said that it was normal that it was too big and its the same with every dress that comes in?! Im starting to think now that this isnt true!

as said above all designers have there own size chart, when u pick a dress & they measure u, they order the closest size, they never make 1 to fit you.
the only way u will get a perfect fit is a custom order like very expensive or the chinese dresses, mine fitted perfectly until i lost weight & had to eat like crazy for last 4 wks before the wedding

I was happy for them to order it in a US size 0 as i knew their sizes were smaller to our's and this was what my measurements matched up to. Was just really surprised when i put it on and it was huge! Coudn't have even been the equivalent to a UK 8-10 as it was so big for me.

Technically speaking, yes a US size 0 is a UK size 4.
But bridal shop dress sizes aren't so simple. I ordered a size 0 bm for my sis who is a UK 8-10, but that was because the measurements for a 0 was the closest to her measurements.
But my other 2 bms are a UK 14, which is a bridal shop dress size 18.
A bridal shop size 0 isn't a US size 0.
I had to order my dress in a size 00, even though I'm a UK 4-6, so I know it will be a little too big, but that is what seamstresses are for
