Subject: 3 weeks to go and a dramatic change!
Hey Guys!!

Had a major dilemma today!! All the way through my planning, i had only one adult bridesmaid and 2 flower girls. For some reason at 4.30 this afternoon, i decided i wanted another adult bridesmaid!! I had always wanted an extra one, but thought we wouldn't be able to afford it, but spoke to my h2b and he said if i could find a dress that matches, to do it....so i did!! I went into every bridal shop in town and not 1 had the dress in the exact colour, size and style! So off i went to Debenhams, with my swatch pretty damn defeated!

I stumbled across a dress, same style of dress (satin, strapless and knee length) in the exact same colour. The only difference is on my original bridesmaid dress, the satin gathers at the side. On the dress i bought today, the satin gathers on the bust. I love the dress as the colours are perfect but spoke to my chief bridesmaid and she questioned if they would look ok being different dresses? I thought they would go well with matching shoes and jewellery but now her saying this has really confused me

Is anyone else having different dresses??? I'm in a pickle and was hoping for some thoughts and opinions!

HELP!! 3 weeks to go and this!!!:\?

I would say this is fine.

Dress style for CBM
Dress style for BM
Dress style for Child BM

They could all have been ordered differently to seperate their roles.

My two friends are wearing a tea length dessy dress in midnight blue and my two sisters are wearing a purple/blue full length empire line dress. I don't think that you need to have the same dresses, some really nice photos have the bridesmaids all wearing different dresses. And it sounds like it would make you happy x

I think dresses that are complimentary but a little bit different actually look nicer than full matching! I think its getting more common now because of the trend of the bride picking the colour and the bridesmaids picking the style to match their body shape. I wouldn't worry about it - sounds really nice!

Ive got different dresses but they all look pretty nice! I wouldnt worry. As long as they all kinda match no one will really pay that much attention!

I've got 3 styles, all in same colour and material - one for adults, one for older kids ie 10 year olds and one for tiny flowergirl. 9 of em altogether. Bang went my plan for a quiet intimate do!

I originally told my bms that they could choose whatever dress they liked out of a particular range. I wanted the same fabric for them, but one i a petite size 10 and the other a gorgeus 22, so I just wanted them to be comfortable. Turned out they both liked the same dress, but it's one that suits all shpes. Wouldn't have bothered me at all if they had worn different dresses.

I think as long as the colours match that is the main thing. We all come in different shapes and sizes so different styles may suit the person better!. I've seen pics in wedding mags that they have different styles so I'd say go with it, if it makes you happy!

My two adult bridesmaids may well end up having different dresses.

They are totally different shapes and what would look good on one will look awful on the other.

I say go for it.

I was originally going to have two different dresses for both my bridesmaids as they are totally different shapes and was concerned about finding something that suited them both. I have found a beautiful dress style that looks gorgeous on them both, but I would have been happy to have them in different dresses, so long as the colours matched.

I'm have 4 bridesmaids - 3 having one dress but 1 didn't feel good in that dress. We have managed to get another, same material, same shape but a tiny bit different. I'm not bothered - I'd rather they be comfortable and happy in what they are wearing than all be exactly the same just for the sake of it.

Thanks guys, ended up speaking to my chief bridesmaid and having a slight argument about it. She kept asking me questions about if it would look ok on the pictures and then siad, i hope you appreciate all i have done for you and that she didnt want to look like she was just asked on the spare of the moment because she had a different dress. I felt kinda bad because my intention wasnt to upset anyone, i just wanted an extra bridesmaid (as 2 had dropped out leaving me with one!). Do u think ive been selfish??

I dont think you've been selfish at all, i think two different styles will look fine, my flower girls were in different style dresses as one was slightly older.

I think your cheif bridesmaid is being selfish not you!!
