Would you be annoyed at this?

My H2B and I are getting married in Cyprus in May, we booked our date the day after we got engaged at the Town Hall in Paphos and called everyone to tell them the great news!

We only have a few close friends each and as much as possible we wanted them to be there , happily they were all able to come and are just waiting for me to give them details of where to book next week.

The problem is that there is a group of 5 of us who are very close friends and one of them is also getting married, first of all she was getting married in Dominican in october, then December, then January, then April and now it's in Cuba in May the same month as ours!

They will be getting married in the local registry office and then having a blessing/ renewal of vows in Cuba (basically a photo op really), then a reception when they get back. Our wedding and reception is all happening in Cyprus and we don't plan to have a reception at home. I was fine with it but I just found out that she's been constantly calling the other 3 girls to get them to book into the same hotel as she's getting married in and it's costing them a fortune saying that if everyone doesn't confirm then she'll have to cancell her wedding!

All of a sudden feels like my beautiful small wedding is turning into popularity contest and H2B is fuming about it - would you be annoyed about this? :\?

Yeah I would be annoyed.

It seems that she wants everything to be about her her her.

Just you get on with your plans safe in the knowledge that its what you & h2b want & dont worry about her.

Honestly I would be furious ! Was she also planning to come to Cyprus for your wedding ? I don't understand why she picked May ? Could she be jealous of you.......

Thing is if I was one of your friends I would turn around and say, well your wedding was booked first and the date was confirmed along time ago and that as I had already agreed to go my priority is your wedding. I certainly wouldn't be bullied into choosing between you both......

Why is she doing things that way around ? Surely it would have been better to get married, have the party then go to Cuba on honeymoon I don't understand it !!

She is being very selfish, and as to saying there will be no wedding if people don't go to Cuba well errrrrr won't she already be legally married !!!

Hope you get it sorted out, maybe you should talk to her or could one of your friends point out how awkward all of this is ?

It is annoying! Unfortunately I'm beginning to realise that you really get to know who your true friends are when you plan a wedding. My H2B is having such grief from most of his friends, including his best man and groomsmen, about the cost of things. They've know for months when and where are wedding would be and none of them have made any preparations or been prepared financially.

I would just relax and have your beautiful wedding in cypurs - which is such a beautiful setting. You'll know when you're there that you're surronded by those that love you most and are prepared to make some small sacrifices to share your happy occasion.

Yes i'd be annoyed too hon. I think it's really selfish & inconsiderate of her. I think its a jealousy thing & like shes trying to go one better than you.

It's better to be the bigger person, rise above it & don't let her see that it's bothering you. You've got your own lovely wedding to focus on x

No Way! That is really out of order. Def sounds like she is jealous of you - why does she need to keep moving the date and location? Is she not actually serious about getting married but only after making a 'statement'? Sorry i know she is a friend of yours. But I would be well unhappy if a friend of mine did that to me. Frankly - yours was booked first, she needs to back off.
