Lightsabers - fun or rubbish!?

Hey ladies,

My h2b is a massive Star Wars fan, and I've been trying to think of a way to incorporate it into our day without it taking over. One idea I had was to get three of our bridesmaids and three ushers to each hold up a lightsaber and make a sort of lightsaber arch for us to walk under when we enter the wedding reception. I've spoken to a couple of people about it and a few have liked it but most have thought it was tacky and rubbish, and now I'm not sure anymore!

We're having our wedding in a lovely beamed hall in a hotel, and I really want it to be fun and a bit different. What do you ladies think? :\?

i love our lightsaber when its lit up - maybe if you had the light up ones you could use them as some sort of decoration? i don't know how long they'd hold out! But the arch sounds acers too! Like swords for servicemen!!

My 9 year old keeps asking us to have a Star Wars theme, but I think our wedding is wierd enough as it is!!!

Ooh, I like the idea of them being lit up!

I think we'll do it as we come into the room for our first dance, so they will be all lit up in the dim room. It should help to kick off the party part of the evening!

I think it's a great idea. What about staging a mock fight? H2b is a re-enactor & his mates are going to surprise our guests with a fight in full armour and swords lol.

FUN!! Our zombie cake toppers went down a treat, I thought everyone would hate them too.
