Hi girls.

So we've finally booked our venue for November 5th 2010... So excited!!.. we're now planning on using the date as a bit of a theme... our first challenge is to find a fireworks display that won't cost the earth on that day, then thinking about sparklers and bonfire toffee as favours, and maybe firework themed cupcakes...

Are there any other bonfire night brides out there? I'd love to hear your plans and share ideas!

xx

Hi ya, We're getting married the 5th Nov too!!!

Although good luck trying to find someone to do your fireworks!

Our venue allows one company to do the fireworks (they have the be silent too!!) and that company is the company which deals with all the large local displays, so my chances are pretty slim!!!

Have you got any quotes yet?

Not long left now! I can't wait, although im now at the point where i am starting to worry!!!x

Ooh you're my first ever reply!!!!

Yeah fireworks are a real issue for me at the moment... I got a load of quotes (most wouldn't consider it for less than £3k!!) and I did find one company who would do it for £900 and just as I was about to book them, the venue then said they would insist on us using their supplier... who are telling me they will be booked... they are now checking with someone that they use to do some of their displays and I should find out this week if I can have them!!! I have all my fingers and toes crossed!!

Are you getting married Nov 5th this year??! I have another year to wait yet!! Are you using the date as a theme at all?! xx

I think theres about 4-5 of us for 5th Nov 2010 on here at the mo!

I spoke to the fireworks company last year and they laughed when i told them the date. Apparently our venue doesn't use any other company.. I didn't realise until today that the fireworks have to be silent too! lol

So im not going to bother! I will have sparklers though, our photographer said he can get some fab shots with sparklers!!!! So that'll be different, being Nov it'll get dark earlier too so he'll still be there!!

What have u got planned so far?

No we're not using the date as a theme, we only picked it because that was the only Friday left in Nov other than one at the end of the month ( I didnt wanna wait that long) so we booked bonfire night!!

403 days left!!!!!

Silent fireworks what is that about??!!.. Haha!!
Yeah I definitely want to get sparklers I think everyone will have fun with those!!

Its still quite early days for us in terms of planning... we have our venue and registrar booked, we're about to book our photographer, I also have invitations (bit early I know but I saw them in the sale and they were perfect!)

I'm now trying to figure out what order I need to do everything else in...

Have you got your dress sorted out? I'm not sure if its too early to start looking?...

I'll be so excited when we get into the 300's!!

What an excellent idea! Even if you don't get your own fireworks you will hear all the other ones from around and it will feel like everyone is celebrating with you!

I have provisionally booked venue just need to pop down with deposit...
were having late afternoon ceremony and straight to evening receptin with a big hot and cold buffet. We wanted something a bit less formal and just wanted to celebrate with our friends and family.

changed my mind so many times about colour schemes but i think im set on Chocolate brown with Orange and Green.. just autumny colours to go with the time of year. Chose my flowers.. im having artifical Orange Cala lillies (the realtouch ones) from Blooming Gorgeous.
were doing everything on the cheap as have no financial support from parents so just ben thinking of ways to cut costs and budget better.
Im going to ask a cake shop to make me a 3 tier cake (2 tier chocolate and 1 sponge) with just plain white icing and say its for our engagement party and i want to decorate it myself! (it will be so much cheaper ... you only have to mention the word WEDDING and it goes up 200%).
Partner is a DJ so someone helping us out with the disco as wedding present.
Using a family friend who does photography as a hobby.. he did my dads wedding pics in July and they were great. Looked so natural and just showed everyone having a good time!!
Want a magician to float round the tables while disco is on..

How about you?? x

Wow sounds like you have some real handy friends!!
Ive aso been thinking about Orange Calla Lillies... either orange or dark red anyway.... but yet to sort flowers...
Haven't started on dresses either yet, but I fancy something in gold, my H2B is in the RAF and is getting married in his no 1 uniform (dark blue), and other male attendants in Navy suits, bridemaid and flower girls will probably also be in navy...
so excited we've confirmed our fireworks now, and also need to confirm our photographer in the next week or so.... its slowly coming together now, after what seems to have been a couple of months of getting nowhere!!!!
