how do u pick your bridesmaids??

i am so confused and really dont want to hurt anyone by not asking them... i have a huge group of friends and im an only daughter therefore i dont have a sister to ask.... helllllp me

I had a similar problem and had serious issues chosing. I have a lot of friends but also 2 cousins who I'm very close to and just didn't know what to do. In the end i chose my sister, my best friend and one of H2B's best female friends who I am now very close to...and i couldn't be happier with my selectin. gonna ask cousins to do a reading so they're involved as well! Just pick what feels right for you. dont have anyone you feel you 'have' to have either.

I picked my best friend (my age, 51) as Matron of Honour and my daughter aged 20 as Maid of Honour. Two young nieces aged 4 (one from each side) were flowergirls.

I stuggled with my decision too. I have a younger sister - so that one was easy. And when I was a child I had a nanny who had children which I basically think of as family. And I have 3 very good female friends.
I decided to just go with "family", and have no friends, I didnt want any more than 3 bridesmaids (we had 3 ushers) so if I picked my friends I would have had 4, and I couldn't just pick 2 of them.

My husband however couldnt decide between his friends who to have as best man, so in true geeky style rolled a dice!
Perhaps you could do something like that, have a little get together with your girlfriends and pick names, that way they all know it was a fair deal and you weren't favouring anyone..

I have 4 really close friends, 3 step sisters and a neice so theres no way I could have had all of them but also couldn't pick between them. I decided to just have my neice who will be 4 and 1/2.

I have 3 really close friends, my sister, 3 cousins who I had thought of asking but there were far too many so in the end I went for my sis and h2b's 2 nieces as flowergirls.

I have so far got 6, my best friend, my sister in law to be, my 2 daughters and my 2 nieces, just debating if to have H2Bs sister, but i think we are going to have her as an usherete and her brother as an usher, My partner also has 2 best men, his brother and his best friend as he couldnt choose between them
Our 2 daughters and our nieces are flower girls, so then i have 2 bridesmaids, my best friend is my Cheif
