Subject: My wedding dress diet
Hi All

Happy New Year!

I hope you don't mind but I really need a place to write down my weight loss progress, blips etc so I have started a thread just for that purpose. Please feel free to comment or add your own problems, tips, successes where you like and encouragement is very welcome!

I am getting married on 25th June 2011 and would like to order my dress on 25th June this year (I have already found it and love it!). So I have given myself the task of slimming to my wedding weight in 24 weeks. I have about 2 stone to lose (I will find out my actual weight at my weigh-in on Wednesday) and I know I can do it with your help and support!

I got engaged on Valentines day 2009 and it was the most romantic day of my life, but since then, I have been piling on the lbs! When we got engaged I was 12st 6 (I am 5ft 10 and had a bmi of 25) and although I haven't been weighed yet this year, I know I have put on at least a stone! I weighed myself just after Xmas at my brothers house and I was 13st 8 (bmi 27.3). My goal weight is 11st 7 which will give me a BMI of 23.1 and I know I can do it. I am determined to get into that dress!

I intend to do this by increasing my exercise and doing Weight Watchers. I lost 2 stone with Weight Watchers 2 years ago and it really does work as long as you stick to it, I swear by it! I have really bad back problems which has forced me to give up my boot camp style training I used to do at my local park (it was amazing and I got really fit) and I can no longer jog so am limited to walking/swimming and pilates. I think this has contributed to my weight gain, as well as Xmas and general being-a-pig ness! I will be trying to do at least one of these activities per day for about 30 minutes. Even if it means walking round the blcck on my lunchbreak!

Well, there isn't much else I can say at the moment. I will be updating my progress most days, I hope you don't mind me taking up space on this forum and feel free to comment anytime you like.

Day 1
Why is it that the first day of the diet is always the hardest? I seem to be SUPER hungry today. I had plain special K for my breakfast (I don't like milk) and a peppermint tea. Then I had some pink & whites as a snack (they are half a point each and all I had in my desk draw!!!) and then I had a slim-a-soup. This was all before 11.45!!! I had some tomato and spinach soup for lunch from the canteen at work which was delicious, but an hour later I was hungry again so went back up for more!!! I think I need to come up with a better food plan for work using foods that actually fill me up!!!

I am going swimming tonight, I will aim to do 30 lengths and then increase this by 2 every time I go. For dinner I think I will be having either a jacket potato with baked beans or some chicken rice with peppers. I normally have a snack of 2 crumpets and flora light when i get in from work, they are so yummy and only 1 point each.

I really enjoy cooking and I got a slow cooker for Xmas so I am looking forward to making healthy soups and caseroles in that! (If anyone has any nice recipes I would love to read them!) Last night as a 'last supper' I made beef stew with dumplings. I cooked it for 6 hours and it was delicious! Only problem was I was so stuffed after eating it I couldn't be bothered to wash up so I have got that to look forward to tonight! *sigh*

Hope you all have a good day/evening

Love from Doris xxx

Wow, you seen really determinded. Good for you, I know its not easy.

I have been on my "wedding weightloss" for just over seven weeks. Have lost a stone so far. I have days when I am soo hungry, but when I weigh myself every friday and have lost some weight... It makes my week!!

I have a treadmill and go on daily for 40 mins (or more... like you I have health issues which prevent me from doing what I want) at a speed of 4.7mph.
My diet is three meals per day - no snacks and no eating after 7pm!

Just wanted to share some of this with you to say, you are not alone in this and it will be worth it when you look in the mirror on your wedding day and like what you see!! Keep going. xxx

aw shucks Mrs_Dillon2B thanks for the message! that's so good that you do your walking, I think I am going to try going for more walks once the days get lighter (I am a bit of a wuss and hate going out in the dark on my own!!!).

I like your rules... 3 meals and no snacks... but I don't think I could do it!!! I like weight watchers because as long as I don't go over my points I can eat whatever and whenever I like. Really looking forward to going back to my class tomorrow and finding out how much I weigh! Eeep!

Well done on your weight loss so far - how far have you got to go?x

Doris you get married one year after me! (well I'm 26th June this year so nearly). I would also like to loose around 2 stone by then (and weigh about the same as you do). So we could be of help to eachother!

My diet started yesterday, here's my food plan

Breakfast
Weetabix- skimmed or semi milk

Snack
Cereal bar

Lunch
Vegetable surprise! (I cook up a weeks worth of vegetables in my slow cooker and portion it up for the week at work)

Snack
Orange

Dinner
Typically- Jacket potato, prawns or sweetcorn
Chocolate moose or 100 cal treat

I weighed myself yesterday morning and plan to every Monday morning (and not in between!). We can do it!!! plus I HAVE to or I wont fit into my dress!!!! it's a size too small for me right now, so if I don't loose a dress size I will be getting married in the raw

Mind if i also join you Doris.

Im the same as Lozza, need to lose a stone and half before August.
Just started my diet.
Im currently 5ft7 and weigh 12 stone exactly.

Yesterday here is what i ate in total:

1x bowl of special K (12.30) Breakfast
1x Bowl of Special K ( 3.00pm) Lunch
1x Chubba lollipop (3.30) Snack
1x Sausage and mash (6.00pm) Dinner
1x Orange (6.30) dessert
10x Crutons (8.00pm)
1x Granny Smith Apple (8.00pm)
1x Go ahead yogurt bar (9.10pm)

By 8pm i was starving hence why i had to snack on the last 3!
I know i should not eat after 7pm but i really cant help it when i am starving!!
Also i cannot eat breakfast till at least 11am, when i get up at 10am for example.
Oh also drunk a glass of water, which made me gag!

Does anyone know if flavoured water is just as good? Even though i know it has more sugar....

Hiya Lozza/Emma

Feel free to join in. We can definitely help each other. You both must be so motivated because you HAVE to get into that dress it's 6 months away and you can't get a diff one! I have seen you both in your dresses and they are gorgeous and you both look lovely, but looking that extra bit gorgeous will make us feel so much better won't it! i want to feel on top of the world and not at all self conscious!

Emma do you really not like water? I can't get enough of the stuff!!! I think a lot of flavoured waters have got sugar in them so not very good for you. I try to drink peppermint tea every day, have you tried it?

I don't think I could not eat after 7... it's when I am most hungry!!! Last night I knew I had been good because when I went to bed I didn't feel full to the brim!!!

I have been good so far today...

Day 2

Peppermint tea

Breakfast - Special K (no milk), glass of orange juice

Lunch - I will be having a jacket potato with beans, no butter and some salad

I don't know what I am having for dinner. I have got a slow cooker and I am going to make my 'hearty lentil soup' tonight but it won't be ready for hours! I might make a stir fry or a pasta sauce with some brown pasta. If any of you want a really healthy pasta sauce recipe let me know xxx

p.s - Lozza can you tell me a bit more about your vegetable surprise!?

Hello there Doris!

Room for a (not so) little one??

I lost 3 stone last year but put 5lbs on over Christmas. I now need to lost the Christmas weight plus another stone, although another stone and a half would be great! I get married in Nov but I am ordering my dress in March so want to lose as much as I can before then.

Started my diet yesterday and I have been a good girl so far! I am doing a two week kick start diet then I will get back on my beloved WW plan. Today I have eaten porridge made with water, a bowl of broth and an apple! Steamed salmon and veg for tea I think. Can't get back into exercise just yet as I am bunged up and feeling rubbish, so want to wait till I feel a better!

Doris is peppermint tea meant to be good for you? I love my fruit and herbal teas!

Emma I can't believe you don't like water! Have you tried sparkling? You can get flavoured water which is sugar free! Or how about adding a dash of sugar free cordial to it, then it doesn't taste like water??

Keep up the good work ladies we can do it!!! Good luck!

Polar xx

Hiya Polar

Yea peppermint tea is supposed to be good for your digestion. It took me a while to get used to the taste, I would recommend twinings.

So you need to lose about 1.5/2stone in total then? We are all a fairly similar which is good.

Polar what are your favourite WW snacks/meals? Do you ever buy them? I like the cheesy tortilla chips they are only 1pt per bag. I can't imagine what porridge would taste like with water? Is it nice?!

I am doing so well today, feeling chuffed! xx

Polar- No i really cannot stand water, just trying to have a normal glass full makes me gag and leaves my mouth with a funny taste- always has done! I will try the sugar free cordial though- thanks for the tip!

I will come back later also and write down what ive had today and keep updated.

Doris- Well done for doing well today!! xx

Better get myself a box of Twinnings then! Yeah I need to lose at least 1.5 stone, preferably 2. We can all help each other! We still have so much yummy food in our house and it's killing me!

I loved all the WW bars, crisps, yogurts and bread and sauces like curry and pasta. I also like most of the ready meals but I pad them out with fresh veg. Are you going to the meetings? Just had very healthy stiry fry for tea and now having some WW fruities, yum yum!

I really need to do some exercise but I'm not feeling great at the moment.

Emma - I would definitely try that, you get your water without the calories!

Day 2 done girls, I am dying to get on the scales already lol

Good luck keep it up xx

Hiya Polar hun

I love the WW meals too and I have them with brocolli and carrots normally. Only £1 in iceland!!

We had soooo much yummy food leftover from xmas, so i took it to work and invited people over to eat it! Is there any way you can get rid of it? I know it's bad, but I normally give h2b all the food i want eaten up and he just scoffs it!! Never gets fat though!!!

I am going back to class tomorrow, might get some of those butterscotch drops!! yum!

I had a chicken and pepper risotto for dinner it was well tasty, my healthy soup is in the slow cooker! And I have just had a cup of cadbury highlights with some marshmallows! it was lush but I'm not sure how many points?! hmmm x
