The other thread is long and very old, so I thought I'd start a new one!

I'm in my third (final) year studying Law, getting married in April 2011, well after graduation. I'm 23 and h2b is 29, yet now a mature student. I'm at Cambridge and he's at Durham, and the distance is killing me! I can't wait to graduate now and move up there to join him, I can't bear the long distance!

How is everyone coping with wedding planning/uni work/job applications combined? I have to strictly limit myself on the wedding front: sadly I'd much rather be planning bridesmaid dresses than reading EU law or filling out yet another application form...

Not applying for training contracts as I don't actually want to practise law. I really want to work in prisons/probation etc, so I'm applying for those at the moment.
I am allowing myself half an hour a day to think about weddings from now on, other than that it's got to be work work work!

I'm 22 in my final year studying languages, h2b is 25 and graduated in 2008 and has moved 300 miles away for his job so I'm here alone, have been apart for 18 months now! I haven't been doing much studying or job application stuff at all cos I am totally hooked on everything wedding-related. Bad times!

It's so tempting to do weddings rather than work.. I feel your pain bumblebee870!

Just have to keep reminding yourself that once uni is over you'll be able to plan to your heart's content! (I am attempting to practise what I preach...)

My fiance is also ridiculously far away. I cannot wait to graduate and get a house together.

im on my fourth year of my six year medicine course and got married at the end of third year during the summer and got 80% in my end of year exams so dont worry it can be done!

don't stress too much, its easy to do but at the end of the day there is only so much planning you can do and the rest is wasted time.

a good idea is to try to get a summer job where you are paid to do nothing (just be there) and spend the time planning! i did this and it was great for getting money together for the wedding and having time to research suppliers.

best of luck to everyone xx

I'm a super stressed bride-to-be but luckily I have a wonderful family who are booking/organising things for me all I seem to have to do is choose what I want! I'm currently in the middle of a full-time PGCE course, writing my MA dissertation, job hunting for next september and working part-time at Debenhams! eep! I'm enjoying it all! Everyone seems to think that students have all the time in the world but we really don't and mix a wedding into all of that too! I wouldn't change it for the world though!

Oh i'm a May 2011 bride too...I figured I needed to do it once my courses had finished haha!

I'm in my 5th year of a 6 year medicine course and I'm planning to get married 2 weeks after my final exams... eek!

I'm justifying doing lots of wedding stuff now as next academic year I'm going ot be soooo busy! The unfortunate thing is I don't get any real holidays from now until graduation (Iong weekend at easter, on placement all summer, 1 week for xmas but will be revising...). I'm just hoping that it'll all work out in the end!

Final (3rd)year of a BSc in Archaeology, but my partner's a full time staff trainer for the wonderful McDonald's. We've been engaged for almost a year, and STILL have no date, which is probably a terrible sign!

I'm using wedding planning as a not so relaxing break between bouts of frantic uni work. No date set yet, because our families are being ten miles beyond unhelpful, and because we're trying to save up for it and failing quite abysmally. Any tips from you guys?

I am 22 and on my first year of an animal science degree, OH works full time as a park ranger but feels he wants to go back to Uni to do something else with his life.

I was working 2 days a week but lost my job so not trying to find another one which is proving quite diffucult with being at uni monday, tuesday and wednesday =(

I dont do much thinking about weddings as we really need to start saving some money before I can book anything also have alots of assignments to do handed 3 in on monday, another one due this monday, 3 due on the 22nd of feb another 2 due on the 29th feb. Then I have work placement for 5 weeks from April until May.

On top of that I have 50 animals at home to look after and I am learning to drive I am surpised I have time to think at all.

Lady Lunar:
It's tough saving up, I know. Are you paying for it just yourselves?
We have a budget of about 3500 tops (though that is at the higher end of what I'm expecting to be able to save!) that my fiance and I plus my parents have to scrape together. To get things going I've opened an internet savings account and given the account number etc to both parents and fiance. We're just putting bits in when we can and watching it grow, albeit VERY slowly!
As for unhelpful families, do you mean they aren't interested at all? My mum is being really helpful thankfully but apart from that everyone else is a bit apathetic. You just have to soldier on and make sure you're happy with how things are going.

My h2b was went back into education at the grand age of 29 this year. It means we'll be harder up for money but he is so much happier. It's well worth it.
And 50 animals?! Good grief, I thought I had enough trouble with one Jack Russell!

yay, another archaeologist LadyLunar!

I'm a first year PhD student at the minute, and sometimes its very hard to concentrate on my research rather than planning. We've had to work out wedding dates around probable digs- at least it means I'll have a good tan from working out in Italy! And probably some freebie weight loss, as I always seem to have tummy trouble when working abroad eep!

Are you thinking of doing anything archaeological for your wedding? Ours has a kind of Etruscan theme, as my PhD topic is "Gender, Sexuality and Couplehood in Etruscan Italy"... it means my research kind of relates to planning!
