Subject: Cursed with obscene breasts, and can't find a dress that fits
I'm finding it impossible to find a dress that fits...

I'm only 5'2" and a 12-14, but I have 32G boobs, and any dress that fits over them hangs off anywhere else, and there is no way that I can afford to get a dress custom made or altered enough to get into and not look like a sack of spuds! Not to mention the current fashions are all for strapless dresses which make my chest look even bigger!

Anything that covers both of those is miles too long and I trip over it!

Any tips?

Hi LadyLunar

A dress with a good corset and a lace up back is the way go - what about a maggie sottero?

The dress will be ordered for you in the size that corresponds nearest to your bust size, but don't despair about it being too big everywhere else as most bridal shops have seamstresses who are well used to taking dresses in to fit the rest of your body.

Yes, you're right that alterations can be quite expensive (there's a lot of work involved, especially in shortening a dress with lots of layers) but ask about the cost of this before you buy and try and negotiate. Also as you are petite take care when choosing your dress, because if it has to have a lot off the length it might affect how it looks proportion wise.

There are plenty of lovely dresses out there (even strapless ones) for girls that have fantastic figures like yours.Seek advice from a good bridal shop and I guarentee you'll find something that you'll look and feel fabulous in.

Hiya!

I know how you feel as i am 32HH. Like Scarlet ribbon said, get a dress with lace up corset.

at some shop, you can order make to measure dress meaning no needed of alternations but i am not sure how much more expensive it would be.

My dress is AA 1148 and it s lace up corset, my place only charge me £80 for length shortening. No harm in going in the shop and explain your situation, some shops can be really nice and helpful etc.

Fail that, look for dress on preloved or ebay cheaply and pay for alternations yourself?

Hi ladies! I share your burden - I'm a 12-14, only 5 foot and a size 34G. I wish I could be less than half the bra size I am . I'd love to hear/see your dress reccommendations because I'm really worried too that the only dresses I'll find that I can wear a good bra under will be really frumpy!

I feel your pain! I am 5ft 4 and a 32G. I found an off the peg dress that fitted- the waist is a little too big but I'm going to have it taken in.
It shouldn't cost too much to have it altered really, it just depends who you take it to. If you take it to a bridal shop seamstress and you didn't buy it there it's going to be very expensive in comparison to a local one.

Plus, as for advice on what suits, I found the thing that looked the best was just a straight-across strapless style. It minimised the bust quite a lot.
I read in some bridal magazines that a sweetheart neckline was good for those with a big bust: on me they looked terrible! They really accentuated them!
I just really did not want to walk down the aisle with people looking straight at my chest, so anything to make them smaller would have done!

Don't know if this helps but i had a similar issue as short but curvy. However as soon as I tried on a Maggie dress the internal corset was superb. I went for a grecian style dress and had it shortened as well as I got married on a beach - the wedding dress only charged £80 for all the alterations which I thought was very reasonable considering I had 6ft of train removed!
It's for sale on preloved at the moment if you want to see how it looks in reality - search under Maggie Sottero Astrid
Hope this helps x

I sympathise too. My silly shape limited my choice of dress (but I actually do love and adore it- the dress that is). I have 32F boobs, a 26 inch waist and a bottom to match my boobs. I really wanted a mermaid dress but they all made me look like Jessica Rabbit. My poor mother nearly keeled over in shock when I came out of the changing room and siad it was a lovely dress but not what you'd call bridal! Ahem. So I've heeded advice of a lady in the know (the owner of the shop) and gone for a fitted bodice with sweetheart neckline and a full skirt. I don't feel self concious and I feel quite well balanced. xx.

Hi,

I'm hearing your issue, all of you - I'm 5ft 4" with 32 g bust. I ended up with an a-line or loose fish tail dress - It almost made me look small chested. I had to get a 14 to fit the boobs in, but the shop then tailiored the rest down to a 10. I took the alterations package out with the shop as there was loads of work (lots of lace and beads) so all my alterations cost £100.

I'll try and post a picture. If it helps I tried on over 70 dresses before I founf the one!

Fe, I'd love to see a photo of you in your dress! I've not yet tried any dresses on but I'm a 30F, 4'11" and I'm worried that I'll have issues. It's reassuring to see that some brides with similar shape to me have liked Maggie dresses as these seem to be styles that I'm drawn to!

Hi,

I have 32d boobs. Even tho im a size 6. Ive gone for a halter neck dress as strapless ones dig in. Maybe go for a dress where the waist starts high (empire?) just below your bust, then the dress will skim over the rest of you. Maybe look for a sample dress that a shop is selling off (this will keep the costs down) then just pay for alterations. I dont think you will get anything that will fit perfectly without alterations. x
