hey girls

My h2b has just started his training at Halton and I missing him so much. he has hardly any phone signal and is so busy that barely spoken to him and trying to have a text conversation is as easy as conversing with a person speaking a foreign language backwards!!! argh!

I know it will get easier but it just seems so surreal and hard at the moment. Just found out that the first weekend home is actually a week later then we thought, gutted! Feel totally unexcited about wedding plans at the moment which is so unlike me but just feel flat plus absolutely skint given that we've lost his previously good wage for his training wage.

I am so proud of him and am so excited about our future and the exciting things we will experience but at the moment I just feel sad. i guess it will all be worth it when he wears his blues in 2 months time!

sorry for the moaning, just needed to vent x thanks ladies x

hi helen

Dont worry I got your reply, it appeared in my hotmail! Thank you for your supportive words. We're in similar position, lived together 3 years before he went, got engaged back in august, and planning to get married april next year after he's finished trade training (even further away)! But yeah I am so proud and I like telling everyone what he's doing and how well he's doing it. I will be brave and be a big girl lol

take care, Mel x

aaw hun - we've all been there! what is your h2b going on to do? mine is now at cranwell doing aircrew training. after that he'll be in shawbury for a year and then onto his OCU at Odiham (depending on his streaming!)

I'd like to say it gets easier but in all honesty it comes and goes!! how we are now - Halton seemed like a breeze! h2b says as his training gets harder hes missing me more - which goes to show they do miss us too!!

try stay super busy - it actually does work! i go trough phases of seeing friends every night of the week to some weeks not doing anything at all

IT WILL DEFINATELY BE WORTH IT!! x

aw just spoke to him and he cried saying he was feeling %&*$#, doubting it all and missing me and wanting to leave told him im sure he's just feeling like this cos he's so tired and not used to the lack of freedom and sure he's not the only one. It's hard knowing what to say and can't do anything. I hope he feels better about it all soon xxx

yes it is difficult - what definately helps is writing to them send cards, pictures etc! We went to Kinloss the week before he joined up and i got a big stone off the beach. I wrote on it i loved him and gave it to him the day he left. He keeps his rock in his pencil case so its with him in class - his rock!!

soppy i know!! but it makes u that way haha!

i actually spent a good 30 mins in tears last night...it all gets so on top of you sometimes - espacially as were nearly there now - 5 months and we'll be able to live together. Wedding and him being away all gets too much sometimes....Suppose the good thing is that we'll always be in the honeymoon period haha

Definately keeps us loving and excited which is great in he run up to the wedding!!

hey pink penguin,
my h2b is in the marines and since we got engaged in August, has been out of the country for 4 and a half months He had two weeks back at home over Christmas but that was spent visiting family etc. We are getting married in May this year (EEEK) and I can totally empathise with how you are feeling!
It's surprising how many people are going through the same, but I have felt quite alone even though my parents and MOH have been amazing.
I would say try and keep positive, think that the final result is that he will have a great career and you will be husband and wife. Try and keep busy with a mixture of wedding and non wedding stuff - You are still a girl, not just a future bride. That's what I had to keep remembering!!!!
Another thing that always helps me is to write to my H2B, a bluey (do you have them in the RAF?) or an email every day or so acts a bit like a diary and really helps you cope with stuff.
Hope that helps you a bit. Keep smiling

Hey there! I know both sides of this: I'm ex-Navy so know what the being away from home is like, training is relentless & hard work but the end results are worth every moment!
Right now I'm planning a wedding (just 40 days to go) with H2B in the RAF: he breezes home at week ends and wonders what all the fuss is? Also he's off over seas in June for 4 months - so not looking forward to that??
What trade has your man choosen?

Hiya, My partner passed out from Halton in november. Have you heard that O2 has a good signal there? I heard when i spoke to him for the first time (3 days ater he got there!) so went shopping straight away for a new phone on o2 and sent it special delivery straight away! so much better ater that. The first few weeks were really hard for both of us and i was really questionning whether we'd done the right thing (been together over 5 years and lived together for 3 years) but its 'normal-ish' now! he had a weeks leave a few weeks ago and i got frustrated! lol. messed up our tidy clean house and i lost my independance! lol. silly really! You feeling any better now? mail me any time if you like .... xx

Aww, bless you! No you're definately not going insane!
I can can definately understand the whole weekend thing! Never get any quality time together - everyone wants to see us/dan!! lol.

But when he has a whole weeks leave and comes home, he drives me mad! messes up my little routine and messes our house up! crazy! xx

It is really hard when they are away training, but you do get used to it.
Look at it this way, you can text / email / speak them every day which is more than can be said for when they are away on ops, when you are sat next to the phone wating for them to ring! Its not so bad.
