MIL2B getting married 3weeks before us - abroad!!

Had a bit of a nightmare yesterday. Even though over xmas we've been telling everyone our date (11.06.11) so everyone should have known, for some reason H2Bs family forgot, and then they asked yesterday. Well lo and behold MIL2B has booked her wedding for 3 weeks before us (in May) and it's bloody abroad! she's been married twice before, and H2B has said to me that to be honest if her wedding is 3 weeks before ours and it's out of the country then we just can't afford to go, plus we won't be able to get the time off work - what with having 3 weeks for our wedding and honeymoon.

Just not happy really. They knew the date, we told them at xmas. originally she was gonna get married this year anyway! And I know that if we don't make it to her wedding then she's only going to moan that her first born isn't there and blame it on me.

Siiiigh. Why can't I have a nice MIL that I get on with!?!

What a weird thing to do, you dont just forget your sons wedding! Have you spoken to her about not being able to go?

On the plus side, she might pay for you and you'll have a fab tan

Ohh MrsHanson2Be what a strange thing to do! The only thing I could say is be upfront from the start, tell them that your wedding is booked and arranged now and that like your H2B said there is no way you can get the time off work to go due to your wedding and honeymoon committments and that you hope she understands. Bit of a strange one though!!

Yeah I'd stick with the work holidays excuse - she cant complain about that surely - what a pain in the bottom to do that!

Yeah I think you're right girls. It's just stupid because they're point blank denying that we told them our date - but we booked our venue back in October and would have told them cos we were so excited. I don't particularly get on with her all that well either so I know she's going to blame it all on me...

I think it's safer if I let H2B break the news that we won't be able to go... she'd probably not believe me if I said it so leave it up to him!
