Subject: Where are all the Berkshire/Hampshire brides???
Hey girls
Is anyone out there getting married in Berkshire or Hampshire...or at a push, the Bucks or Surrey borders with Berks/Hants?
I am in the VERY early stages of planning whilst living in Australia and struggling a bit.
Can you get a really nice, modern but beautiful venue, suitable for around 60-80 guests with good food, drink and maybe some accommodation included in the Berks area for under 6000 pounds?
Any advice, ideas or experiences of Berkshire venues very welcome!

Hi I'm a Berks / Bucks bride getting married in Burnham. We've gone with the Grovefield House Hotel but also went to see the Tudor Barn and another hotel in Burnham Beeches which was gorgeous! All were under £6000 i think depending on which package you went for.
xx

Yay, so pleased that this thread has taken off a bit! Nice to meet you all and congrats on your upcoming weddings!
I am from and my parents still live in Burghfield Common in Berks, although I have been in Sydney for 18 months now, lived in Tokyo for about 3 years before that and London for 6 years before that.
I have done loads of venue research but I really think I need to see some places to properly judge and I can't do that until I'm back in the UK for a visit in August! We're hoping to go for an April 2011 wedding, so won't leave loads of time for planning!
mrsmeadowstobe - when I say modern, I just mean not old-fashioned and fussy in decor but doesn't necessarily have to be a new building or anything. I just have a real thing about venues with disgusting multi-coloured patterned carpets and I'm not keen on dark wood panelling or tapestries on the walls...pretty fussy as you can tell! The New Mill at Eversley looks gorgeous and is on my list to visit. Would love to hear about how you're using it and what its like 'in person'!
taylorgoodall and hesmywatermelon - I also have Trunkwell Mansion and Silchester House on my list to visit in August and both look lovely. I didn't think I was keen on marquees but the star cloth must be amazing in the flesh! Silchester House looks great too although 139 pounds a head seemed a bit expensive to me, where you able to negotiate that at all? I hadn't heard of Grovefield House but will certainly look into them, keen to hear all recommendations!
I also want to see Lillibrooke Manor in Maidenhead, Rivervale Barn in Yateley, Hants, The Inn on the Green in Cookham Dean and The Elephant Hotel in Pangbourne.
My mum really wants me to choose The Old Mill at Aldermaston but I am not sure, has a touch of the old-fashioned about it to me but will have a look to please her and you never know!
Sorry for going on and on, its just so nice to chat with some people who know what I'm talking about!
