Subject: Sae the date cards and invites - when to send??
Hey girls!

I'm getting married in Cyprus next May, so when do you think is the right time to send out my save the date cards? And what about the invites?
And should i send save the date cards out to people who i would like to invite, but know won't come as it is abroad?

I know it sounds a little cheeky but i don't want loads and loads of people coming anyway as i would like it a small wedding, but H2B has sooooooo many friends!!!

Thanks ladies xxx

I'm getting married in South Africa in October 2010 and I sent my Save the Date Cards end of June 2009 and invites November 2009 - I didn't want people saying they would love to have come but had already booked their annual holiday. I think you should send the Save the Date cards asap but as Greece is a lot closer than South Africa you probably don't need to send the invites until end March - hope this helps, hun x

I again would say save the dates as early as poss. Turning it around if it was me I would need lots of notice, as I would need to save a lot to be able to afford to go. My friends have also said this. I think you should also send them even if you know people wont go as its nice to be asked anyway. Official invites nearer the time, but still earlier than you would if it was a UK wedding. People need to book hotels, time off, flights etc and may have other commitments. xx

Hi tailor123,

I'm getting married in June and sent my Save the Dates out a year ago with my wedding website on it so that people could get more information that way.

I sent the formal invitations out yesterday x

I think send the Save the Date cards out now. It never hurts to give people plenty of warning especially when you are going abroad so they can save up and plan their leave from work.

The actual invites you should send out around September this year so people know all the details. Although I think you should do what Miss VW did and make a website. I know if I was invited abroad I would want to know all the details about it as soon as poss so I could get excited and start planning etc.

If you do a website you could probabl get away with sending the invites out later.

Rubymaggie1, I used Vistaprint for my Save the Dates and they were great. They usually have plenty of deals on, especially if you sign up to their newsletter. Also, if there isn't an offer on a product you want, just add it to your shopping basket and then leave the site. You'll find that, within a week, they'll offer you the product for free and you just pay the p&p x

Im not getting married until Nov 2012 but sent our save the date cards out in Dec 2009. Peoples feedback has been great saying we are giving them enough time to save up and so we have a good crowd of people coming along.

Ours wasnt very expensive at all, i created a postcard style STD card on powerpoint and then had it printed.

Ill probably send invites out once we have the actual accomodation and things booked up.

My Save the Date cards were inexpensive - I made them myself using postcards of our venue - only cost me the postage as the venue supplied the post cards for free!!
