Don't know where to get married!

We are getting married in the summer of 2012 (H2B is a teacher so would have to do it over the summer hol)and have started telling friends and family as we want to give everyone enough time to save.

I don't want to go somewhere that is financially out of reach for them(anything over £900 i think might be too much bu this is a rough guess!) but I would like to go somewhere warm...no sorry hot!

I would like to get married in a church and have the reception within a courtyard(if that makes sense!),i'd love a candle lit ceremony.Or alternatively have a evening/sunset candle lit ceremony on the beach.

I know its a bit garbled and vague so if any of you ladies can make sense of what i'm saying and can give me ANY advise on where to start, what i need to do and if any of you have or are having this type of wedding or similair i'd appreciate any feedback :\)

Thanks in advance

Hiya!

We decided to get marrie dabroad and originally looked at places like Cyprus and other places in Europe.

HOwever we decided to then look a wee bit further afield and although cost around £200.00 per person more were able to book all inclusive which included all food and drink and lots of activiteis too - which we just couldnt get anywhere else.

In the end up its working out lots cheaper for everyone!

So......................

there are 23 of us heading to Mexico! x

Hi wedding Fever!
Thats so funny that your going to mexico as that was mine and H2B's first hol together : ) awwwwww!
which part of mexico are you going to and what time of the year?if you don't mind me asking!
Would love to get married there but didn't think it was a possibility but if there is only a £200 difference between europe and mexico then i will look further afield.

Thanks

we are going to Riviera Maya in October x

There are great deals around - we just felt that the prices we were being quoted for Bed and Breakfast in hotels were really expensive then people would need a lot of spending money too x

hi, congratulations!
We originally planned on mexico as weve always wanted to go!but decided not to as we felt it was too long a flight for our son who will be 3 so weve decided to save that for our belated honeymoon next year!
We looked at europe especially greece and cyprus we looked through loads of brochures and decided on cyprus for lots of reasons but basically we love it there! Then we researched on internet for venues etc and planners as i couldnt trust myself to do it with no help!! We went out last year for our family holiday and met with a planner who showed us a range of venues for ceremony/reception we found the ones we wanted and booked for this may(27th)
weve only got 10 people including us, just the intimate wedding ivdreamed of, were having our ceremony in a place called peyia which is like a secret garden and beautiful and r reception on a yacht with a sunset cruise i cant wait!!
I definatley reccomend an independant planner have heard lots of bad reviews from ladies who have booked through travel agents although it may be different for long haul destinations, maybe get some brochures to help you find the perfect location
the ladies on here have always been really helpfull and full of advice so im sure any probs u have will be sorted!lol
good luck and enjoy it!! X

Id start lookign at options around europe to keep things more affordable for guests - there's quite a few ladies marrying in greece, cyprus and italy for example. If you go further a field the best time to go are normally not in summer, many are having their hurricane or rainy season at this time so do make sure you check the climate for the time of year than you want to have the wedding. Also check out the legal requirements too as they can vary between different places.
Oh and finally - good luck with the planning, I'm sure you find somewhere lovely! Dont book the wedding part through a tour operator though, best to do it through a planner as said above, a fair amount of bad reviews about them, though sometimes you get a good one but definitely more bad than good reviews.

Thanks HoppyD, I'll be sure to check that out.
Wedding Fever- that makes sense,i think because october is off peak season the deals are quite good.I doubt we'd find many good deals during july/august time but i'll see whats out there.
Evedavies- thank you!what i'll do is come up with a shortlist with H2B and start writing the pros and cons for each and take it from there.Sounds lovely where your getting married : ) i've always wanted a intimate wedding so getting married abroad will be perfect!
MrsStorey2B- very good point you made about hurricane season, completely skipped my mind!Very restricted in when we can go as mister is a teacher meaning more expensive and less options due to hurricane season.Don't think they can take time off outside of school hols.Might be worth thinking about getting married during the easter break and going away for the honeymoon in the summer,But that may work out more expensive.Any teachers out there who married abroad that can shed some light on this? My mum suggested Lindos,Greece (she bought a place there that she rents out) so shes there all the time and loves it! thats an option if further afield is too pricey.

Thank you : )
