I am getting a box off ebay and putting the dresses in these to carry on as hand luggage who do you fly with?

Something like this, although this one is cheap and cheerful you can get fancier ones from emptyboxcompany.

Mine will be carry on too, but I had a word with a friend who works for Virgin, and she said as we have upgraded, if I take it in a cover, they *should* hang it up for me so it doesn't get creased.

I do worry just in case they say no! I might carry an empty box just in case......

I've been advised to ring my airline to find this out, apparantley we should be able to take our dress on in a bag as hand-luggage, i suppose it depends who you are flying with, best to give them a call x

I'm getting a small suitcase which can be taken on as hand luggage, my bridal shop have already assured me that they can fit the largest dress into the smallest case, apparently its all about rolling it...lol.

I'm then going to get my mum to take it on as hand luggage so that H2B doesn't see it!!! My parents are flying out a few days after us. as for the BMs they will take their own, though I'm going to try and get them to do it hand luggage too!

Am flying with Thomson and they have told me that I can't take it on in a dress bag, as it is not there policy to hang them up anymore!!!!
At least I know before I get to the airport.

I have bought a travel box from the Empty Box Company, which fit hand luggage requirements. My BM is taking hers in a suit carrier I think....

I flew with Thomson and put the dress in my hand luggage. You just have to be careful the bag doesn't exceed hand luggage dimensions. As we took alot of luggage over for our wedding, we paid £70 so we could take an extra 10kgs of luggage in the planes hold which helps.

Hi, I flew Virgin economy and took my dress over in the maxi box from Emptybox. The dimensions were fine for hand luggage and none of the staff made any fuss. The box fit perfectly in the overhead locker. I just had my dress steamed the day before the wedding and it was fine.

No worries.

That should be fine, but it will be counted as your 1 piece of hand luggage, so check those measurements carefully. As you are a female you get to carry your handbag on seperately anyway so just make sure it is a biggun to fit in your mags etc.

I'm putting mine in a small suitcase - just about 1cm smaller than the restriction for hand luggage I think! We got it at the weekend - was cheaper than a special cardboard box and we can use it again!

We have 2 of those for clothes and important document etc and my son also has an allowance, so I'll use his so that I can have my big handbag too
