Anyone been to Sri Lanka?

Hi all,
Been thinking about sorting out our honeymoon... hoping to go straight after the wedding in Sept.
We wanted to go somewhere neither of us had been... a place where there are sights to see and things to do, as well as having a spot of "time out" where we can just chill out on the beach for a couple of days.

Did some reading and found some pretty reasonably priced tours to Sri Lanka... involving about a week of touring around with a private car, ending in a few days on the beach...

Anyone been and can give any tips?

We went to Sri Lanka in August and that is where we got engaged.
It is a lovely country and very beautiful - unlike anywhere that I have been before. You have beaches, tropics, plains...everything rolled into one. We stayed just outside Kalutara at the Royal Palms Beach resort and it was brilliant. The Sri Lankan people were so friendly but it is a very poor country. I would suggest that you don't do all of your trips by car in one go...the roads are absolutley awful. Imagine the worst farm track and massive potholes and you then have their version of motorways. It takes a long time to get anywhere due to this so it is probably best to give your bum a rest from all the bumpy roads.
when it is monsoon season you are unable to go into the sea. We couldn't even paddle as it was so rough. You might want to check that out?
