Subject: Things our children won't know.
My friend and I were thinking yesterday about things we had in our lifetime that my little one to be won't have an idea about. Like the noise dial up internet makes, videos, the fact that when you wanted to see your friends, you phoned their home phone, and if they weren't there? Well you didn't see them!! It made us feel old!! Can anyone think of anymore? I just thought of mighty white too!! Or do they still make it?!

Cassette tapes
Life without the internet
Having to actually handwrite a letter
Having to go to a library to research homework etc instead of just putting the subject into Google
Having to go to a shop to get photos developed and having to wait a few days for them to be ready.
Having a Walkman and if you wanted to listen to music 'on the go', you had to carry round a bag full of cassettes or make a mix-tape and turn the tape over when the side was finished!
Only having BBC 1, BBC 2, ITV and Channel 4.

random pen pals!
being ID-ed at clubs/bars and then being able to use your mates paper driving licence (that you had memorised word from word) to obtain entrance/a drink!

Just on a side note - how hard must wedding planning have been when you actually had to go to shops to look for inspiration and to buy everything?! Mind you, it might have been a hell of a lot easier (and cheaper too) because back then if you didn't see things in shops, you didn't know they existed so you weren't tempted, whereas now all you have to do is put 'wedding' into Google and you see 1,000,001 things that you HAVE to have. LOL

The white dog poo comment made me laugh.
I have this conversation with my Hubby all the time and I always comment as to why you never see white dog poo anymore. Then last year I got a picture message on my phone and when I opened it it was a photo of some white dog poo that Hubby had seen when he was at work so thought it'd be nice to take a picture of for me to prove it does still exist! LOL

Haha! Brilliant responses, a real trip down memory lane. Ahhh, the mix tape, having to moniter it constantly so you caught it at the end of the song or before the radio dj started talking! Top of the pops. It's crazy when you think of the massive leap forward technology has made in recent years.
