Subject: What are you prioritising in your budget?
I was reading another thread and there were lots of discussions about what's important for you in your budget? Weddings are so personal. So I thought I would start a thread where we could say what we want to/are prioritising in our budget.

For us it's:

Venue
Numbers (we're having a big wedding, we want everyone to be part of our day.)
Honeymoon
Dress
Band (we're into our music, so it's a big thing for us)

Also, the things that don't cost a lot but show a bit of thought for our guests are really important to me. I'm thinking of little ways to make them feel looked after:
Survival kits in the bathrooms, dancing shoes (I bought a whole load of flat pumps from Asda and Dunnes stores for £1.50/£1 a pair in the sale.) Icebreakers on the table - we're going to write an interesting fact about each person on the back of their place name setting.

Things that aren't as important to us:

Flowers
Cake (I'm decorating the Asda cakes)
Cars - we will have wedding cars but I want to be savvy about cost on it.

I am sure that someone else could be the polar opposite to mine. I love that though - it's so personal, and makes it "your" wedding. xxx

Mine Are:-

Venue-Me and H2B got engaged at a castle so we just had to get married there

Dress...without question

Photographer/videographer...after all these are the only memories that you have left aftre the big day.

Entertainment...like you I really want to make the day fun so we are having an irish band, casino tables and a chocolate fountain.

Less important

Shoes....no-one bloody see's them

Flowers

Cars...we don't need these as we are having a civil wedding all in same venue.

I have been bargin hunting with lots of things and just recently got a jewellery set on ebay for 45 quid...bought for £125

Mine is pretty much the same as yours.

My biggest priority is the venue. I wanted somewhere that did great food and drink. That is where most of my budget is going.

I did really well with my car because my dad works at a funeral directors so we are having a Rolls Royce from there. It might be worth a try asking your local funeral directors beacuse they might be cheaper than an actual wedding car company. They are practically the same just used for a different purpose.

Before anybody says anything I don't mean a hearse!!!

What are you putting in your survival kits Mirandolina? They sound like a really good idea.

Hi girls, love this thread!

I'm paying most for:

Venue, food & drink - we are having big wedding - 150 to day, 60 to evening, so the cost had shot up before we had even started planning anything else!

Dress - the most important dress I will ever wear!

Photographer - apart from our memories, these will be the only thing we have left after the wedding, so well worth spending money on!

Things I'm not bothered about:

- Flowers! Apart from bouquets, buttonholes, and a few flowers on tables (the absolute minimum) we aren't having any. My Mum wants flowers in the church, plus displays stood everywhere - but when they die the next day, I just can't bear to spend the money on them!

Cake/Evening Buffet - Not having sweet cake as neither of us have a sweet tooth and we're already paying for a dessert. So we're having a Cheese Cake (stacked rounds of cheese) which is a fraction of the price of a fancy sweet cake and also serves as our evening buffet.

Favours - I didn't want to have any. My Mum and Sister think they are important, so they have decided to bake star-shaped biscuits! Fine with me!

Invites - I got lots of samples and they were going to cost a fortune for so many guests - so now I'm making them myself!

Sounds like I'm the same as most of you...

Venue and food are most important to us as the amount you have to pay pretty much anywhere, we want it to be good!

Photographer - seen some lovely albums and would like some great pics to look back on.

Not so bothered about:

Shoes - I agree with poshpolly - doubt anyone will see them
Flowers
Favours - I didn't want them either winter_bride 10. I'm still deciding whether or not to do them but if I do I will probably make something myself, like fudge.

Numbers not so much of an issue as we don't want a really big wedding.

hi ladies - im prioratising me, me and a little bit more me! (hehe)

im not setting a limit on my outfit - dress/accesorys etc but if i spend a lot i will cut back on the things im not bothered about - flowers erm well that the only thing im not bothered about to be honest.

ive told him to spend as much as he wants buying his suit, we are the first of our friends to get married so he will be able to use his suit over and ovr again so he'll get his moneys worth! xxxx

Katie40, good on you! We should feel a million dollars on the day, so I like your style!

Mrs Brown2B - the cars is a great idea! I don't know why I never thought of that! I have phoned some executive hire transfer companies, but hadn't thought of funeral directors! With my wedding being a Friday, I imagine it might be a busy day for them. Worth a look though.

WinterBride, we have similar numbers, the price jut rockets before you've even started! It means a lot to us though to be able to invite everyone we want.

Poshpolly and Durham Bride - re: shoes. I was so glad to see your comments. I have been having massive shoe wobbles. Be warned, this will sound completely shallow (hence the reason I haven't admitted it to anyone but one of my BM's). I had it in my head that I wanted a pair of Christian Louboutins or Jimmy Choos for the wedding day. I didn't want the usual ivory satin, and was thinking more of a glitter fabric or silver or maybe gold that I could wear again.I saw a pair of Jimmy Choos I really liked at £400.

Then I saw a link here to some Nine West shoes in the sale that are nearly identical to another pair of Christian Louboutins I had been looking at. Except they were one twentieth of the price. That's right - one twentieth.

I've bought two pairs, I'll post them in a sec. They're exactly the same shoe, just one is silver glitter with a silver heel and the other multi glitter with a gold heel. I'm having a crystal bouquet, so I am waiting for that to arrive to see which go best.

Since buying them, I have still been having wobbles though, and here's the shallow bit. The shoes are gorgeous, I love them and will wear them again. I think they are actually nicer than the Jimmy Choos (although Choos are super comfy!) BUT, I feel a wee bit let down that they're not designer. I know that is totally ridiculous and shallow and that I am a sucker for thinking that!

Incidentally, I did treat myself to a pair of Jimmy Choo boots recently to try and get it out of my system. I think it might have made me worse.

Help!

They are so similar, I wouldn't buy the Louboutins for the sake of having the name. I do still like the Jimmy's and another pair of Louboutins (same as Winter Brides avatar) but then I still love the Nine West ones. Arrrgh! Think I am putting more thought into the shoes than the dress! x
