Hey all,

Congrats to everyone on here., Can't believe how exciting organising a wedding is!!! I have spent weeks trwealing through websites and getting ideas but have realised its time to get on with actually booking!!!

We are hoping to get married in Cyprus June 2011 but I am srtuggling to even get started!! I was hoping to book the flights, the hotel for all the family (40+ people) and the actual wedding in one booking. Is thi s possible or is it best to just book for me and H2B and let the rest of the party make their own arrangements. We are wanting to stop in the same hotel as the guests!!!

Any help or ideas of a starting point would be fab:-)
P.S Love reading all the ideas n hints n tips on this forum.. it's fab!!!

Hi congrats and welcome. We are getting married Cyprus May 2011. We have decided not to go with a tour operator for the wedding part and i have done this myslef, church, reception photographer. Many of the girls have aplnner but this wasnt in our budget, they are really good though. Re: booking the holiday part, we are pretty much concentrating on ourselves and adivsing other guests of hotels etc, but not actually booking for them. Too much like a headache i think lol! You can get discounts though at some hotels if you book a large group, guess its down to personal choice. If i can help at all just holler ! xx

give us an idea of what places you lie, loads of girls getting married at diffrent parts so some may be more help to you, i am getting married in protaras on fig tree bay @ Capo Bay, i am using Aphrodite wedding planners, ( marriageincyprus.com) i have used them to do my paper work, its sooo easy to book the rest yourself so i advise that saves the££££'s!!!, i would say find your venue, google planners in that area, talk to loads of them ( phone them if possible you get a better fell of the planners) decide your planner if you want one and the services you want to book and then let the girls on here help you find everything else, between us we have loads of contacts for florists, photographers, cars, horse drawn carriages the whole caboodle!!

Congrats and good luck!! xx

Thanks for replying guys.. H2B is off today so he has said he will do some research but looking at other posts trvael operators dont seem to be the way forward for the actual wedding day. Fir the day itself I really like the look of Annabella in Pahos. I am hoping to check their availabilty of the date we are after today and then plan the holiday around this. Do you guys know what the extra charge is for amrrying on a Saturday??
P.S thanks again for replying.. its so hard knowing where to start, silly me thought doing it abroad would be easier!!!

Hiya, I believe you can only marry Mon-Fri, that's what I was led to believe anyway. Also, you have to have been in the country for 3 whole working days before you can marry too. For example, we arrive there on Wed 30th March, and the earliest date we can marry is Tues 5th April.
Good luck, and congratulations. It's an exciting time isn't it?!

Hiya hun and welcome.
I am getting married in Paphos this June ARGH! lol

I would def say stay cleer of tour ops if u can especially for the actual weding part and either book with a venue/hotel direct or hire a planner.

I would also recommend you check out the flights when they come out and inform your guests as there are quite a few which flights you are choosing and get them to book their own. I say this as with 40 pax u will have alot to deal with hun. There will be what if's and but's like what if someones ill and u need to canx or change ticket date/time and name changes etc. They are all possibilities

Let me know if u need any further help xxx

Hi,
My daughter is marrying at the Annabelle in September.
The Annabelle is a beautiful hotel and Sally, the wedding planner there couldn't be more helpful. She can arrange everything for you if you want her too (photographer, flowers etc), or like me you can do it all yourself!

mgrsec.annabelle@thanoshotels.com

I like her because she is not pushy at all, doesn't make you feel like you should be spending more, and she has actually saved me money!

I have found though that the Annabelle is one of the most expensive hotels to stay at, next to the Elysium, so you might want to consider this if you want all your guests in the same place.

Some planners/ tour operators will have you believe you need to be in Cyprus X number of days before you can legally marry. This is not true!!
You need to attend the Town Hall/ Registry Office to get your special marriage liscence but you can do that the day before the wedding if you wish.
My daughter will be in Paphos only one working day before she marries. Of course we will make sure all the paperwork is in order with the Town hall a few weeks before then.
Of course you may need to be here earlier in order to check on arrangements, meet suppliers, top up your tan etc but it is not a legal requirment!

Good luck with your planning!
Chris.

Hi Lisa,

Are you still thinking of June to get married?? We are getting married at the Alexander the Great hotel 4th June 2011, try get your registrar booked soon they are v busy!!! Its true weddings are only Mon-Fri however they we booked up for what date we wanted so they said they will give us a Saturday and i think it helped as we live here too, unfortunately Cyprus is like this they have no laws or rules lol!!! All they do is pencil your name into a diary and wait for you to come with your docs and pay! So its worth booking the date whenever but soon....

If you ever need advice on a venue or anything let me know i have been in them all i used to be a holiday rep here and ive been in Paphos 5 years, i might be able to help

Hi and congratulations!
The Annabelle is a gorgeous hotel - we also looked at it but it was a bit out of our reach! We have decided to use a planner - Ruth at Paphos Prestige, she has been a great help offering us advice on everything....only just started planning cos we are also 2011 - so far we have decided on H2 Photography, Peyia Town Hall, Vasilias for reception, hiring clothes from Eternity Hire i think, got the entertainment booked provisionally - Diversity and am now looking in to flowers.
If you need any websites and stuff let me know.
