Subject: i don't like the way i look in my dress UPDATE - new dress
I've been having this issue since i bought it and i don't know what to do, i was lucky enough to get it for a really good price as we're on a very tight budget. But i don't think it looks nice on me. i know exactly what kind of dress i'd like and it doesn't really look like the one i already have. The other problem is, everyone seems to love it! it's just me that has the issues apparently! i don't really feel comfortable in my body either and that doesn't help much. i was recently looking on a website called light in the box and i saw a couple of dresses there i liked, all under £130. has anyone ordered from there? and how will i tell everyone i changed my mind? My MIL especially won't be very happy.

do you think any of these would look acceptable on a size 14-16?

With only 3 months left till the wedding i am really panicking.

What is it your not liking? could the dress be altered? that would probably come in cheaper than having a new dress altogether.

You might just be having wobbles, you are getting close to the day so you're bound to have a few niggling doubts. Why don't you try it on again with all your jewellery etc and have a really good think about it with someone you trust (mum?).

Hi huni,

Do you have a pic of the dress?

Both of those dresses are lovely but you chose the dress you have for a reason.

i agree with Lozza, go and have another fitting with everything you will be wearing on the day and then see how you feel x

that's a picture of me in my dress.

well i can't say exactly what i don't like, but you can see in the pics of the other dresses i like it's nothing like that..

ps: that's not the tiara or jewellry i will be wearing but i just tried it on to see if i change my mind and i actually like it but it didn't happen :P

Personally I love your dress but if you are not happy it might be worth looking around. In a wedding shop near me, they had dresses like the ones you like in the sale, they were £40!!!!!! So, it might be worth having a look at wedding shops around you. They are sample dresses but were in perfect condition. I nearly brought one of the others just because it was lovely!!

thank you that really helps, i will have a serious think about it. it might just be that i don't like my body which won't change if i change the dress. i am still losing weight but even after 4 stone lost my arms still look as massive as before, what could i do to cover them up on the day?

all i can suggest is when you go, work out with your arms as much as you can, i do alot of work on my stomach i did stomach crunches for 2 days and i already saw the difference i do about 80-110 per session, i reccomend using the weights with your arms they should help x

Can I just say your arms DO NOT look massive.

Right, lets' put how you feel about your body shape aside for a minute.

Look at the dress only and please tell me exactly what it is you are uncomfortable about with it. I have an idea of why you don't think it works but I'd like to know your thoughts first before I say anything.

Hi

I am a 14-16 too and don't think those light in the box styles you have been looking at wouldn't really suit your body shape - the dress you have is more flattering.

I know someone who ordered BM dresses from there and the dresses are fine but it can take a long time to come and it would prob be better if you found a dress and then asked them to make it rather than asking the 'real' designeer to make it than just choosing one off their website.

One thought I have looking at your pic is that the waist line where the bodice and skirt join is a quite high, if this were slightly lower it would have a real 'slimming effect' - talk to a seamstress and see if the straps can be lengthened to allow this to drop lower on your waist.

I know what you mean about the arms, I have been working on mine for about 2 weeks and it is really hard but it is the bit most on display in my strapless dress and thats what drives me on. You have 3 months, which is plenty of time to work on them - swimming is good for that,

I am also considering a body contour wrap just before the wedding - apparently you loose inches and it stays off for 2 - 3 weeks, perfect for the honeymoon too!
