Subject: Flower/Reception Decoration problems
Hi All,

I found a wonderful florist who was going to do my flowers. It's a girl I know through work and she is really lovely and her flowers are amazing, We went to see her in November and she gave us a really fantastic quote and I loved her ideas. All great so far.

Anyway, just after Christmas I heard rumours that her business had gone bust. I contacted her casually but didnt mention the situation and she did come back to me and say that yes she has gone bankrupt but she would still do my flowers as a friend if I wanted her to? I said that I would like that as long as she was ok with it - didnt want her to feel like she had to but would really like her to do it. She said great and she would be back in touch in February to do some samples.

I haven't heard anything since. She isn't responding to my e-mails and obviously the shop number is no use anymore. I don't know what to do for the best whether to cut my losses or keep trying a bit longer.

On the side for waiting for her
1) I dont want to upset her
2) I doubt I will get such a good deal elsewhere
3) She is lovely and her flowers are gorgeous

On the negative
1) I dont want her to feel like she HAS to do it
2) We are getting married in July which will be really busy - what if I can't get somewhere else?

If I do go and look elsewhere I dont know if I can afford to go to a professional florist - she was charging £200 for my bouquet, my sister's bouquet, 5 corsages, 5 button holes and table decorations for top table plus 8. What sort of price would I be looking at for a florist or should I hit ebay and get some silk flowers?

Any help or recommendations - I live in the North East - would be great as I am really starting to panic. I haven't given her a deposit but I just feel like she is blanking me in the hope I give up and go elsewhere...

xx:cry:

Doesn't sound good. I think you right to look for another florist however you may struggle this weekend. With it being Mothers day its one of the busiest weekends and when I tried to book appointments they weren't doing consultations this weekend.
I'm looking for a June wedding and so far availability has been pretty good so don't worry to much

Hope you manage to find another florist.

I think you are doing the best thing trying to find someone else. I wouldnt worry about upsetting her (if she does ever decide to get in touch). At the end of the day you need to think about yourself and planning your wedding. I know she is probably going through a tough time if she is gone bust but still, she did offer to still do them for you as a friend so she should stick to her word and not not blank your emails/phone calls.

Depending on the flowers you want i think you are probably looking at around £350-£400.

Good luck xx

She should be in touch and as she isnt then she can not blame you for going elsewhere. Ask around at work and friends/relatives and see if anyone knows anyone who does floristry and can do your flowers, and as someone said it is mothers day weekend where prices are sky high and everyone is busy, leave it till the week or next weekend and then enquire.

Good luck but dont feel bad cause you will feel worse if it comes to June and you are tyriing to do this last minute.
