Hi when are you all sending your save the date cards. i am getting married in aug 2011, dont want to send them to early that everyone will forget but then dont want to send them to late and people book holidays etc.

I would probably send them in August time this year so its a year in advance. I guess there is no harm in sending them now, gives people plenty of notice then but like you say its well over a year so people may put them to one side and forget or get confused and think its this August lol!

We are getting married 11th December this year, we sent our save the dates out in January of this year.

im sending mine in about June this year for dec 2011 wedding. Partly because my guests are all travelling from afar and can start booking rooms now and get discount

On parental advice, we have just sent ours out for our September 2011 wedding- both sets of parents recommended to do it as soon as the church was booked. People will have invites to remind them nearer the time, and it stops people booking holidays and things. We have been cheeky and used them as a surprise way to tell everyone we are engaged

i'd send them straightaway that way you won't have to worry about people booking hols etc as august is a busy time of year

I'm sending ours asap, for an August wedding (we've told most people the date in passing, but want to give them it in written form so they don't lose it). However, I will say that the one person to whom I've already sent a card has just rung me up wanting to know all the details, exactly when/where/who. It's all stuff I've not sorted yet so I basically had to tell her it will all be on the invitations. Makes me think I maybe should have waited until I had slightly firmer plans!

So basically, if your people are like that and always want details, make sure you've got details ready to tell them.
