Newbie - a;ready stressed with colours!!

Hi all,

I got engaged a couple of weeks ago (still can't stop smiling!!) and we're planning a wedding for May 2012.

I really like the idea of having a vintage spring wedding but I'm stressing about colours etc! H2B hates green so that's out and I'm not massively fussed on yellow so it kind of leaves us with pinks which I'm fine with as long as it doesn't overwhelm the day!

I'm just after a bit of help on how to tie it all together with styles etc, strangely one of my main worries is the bridesmaids! I really don't want them in pink, they're all different colouring and shapes and sizes so it just wouldn't suit and it would be a bit too much pink for my taste but then I'm stuck on what to put them in!? :\?

This planning lark is good fun but there's a lot to think about! x

If you are going for vintage/spring theme - then you could have a look for something subtle for your bm dresses. I found this ...

Pinks dont have to be overwhelming as long as they are an accent with a different background like an ivory, white and cream.


You could have ivory and deeper pink flowers, in blooms like hydrangeas ...

If you want to add the vintage to the decorative aspects, you could use teapots/teacups/birdcages filled with flowers etc.

You could use lace/pearls to add detail to your decor and invites/stationery.

There is lots you can do with that theme... but try not to over do it or you will end up weddinged out very early.

Thank you that's really helpful, trying not to look into it too much but it's hard to stop when I'm all excited!!

Hydrangeas and peonies are at the top of my list for flowers, I think they both tie in nicely with the theme.

That dress is actually lovely as well, very pretty! x

First of all let me say a BIG congratulations.
I too am getting married in May 2010.

There are lots of colours you can chose from like soft blues, dusky pinks, lavendars, peach, grey or cream and best of all you can even have all these colous together. Colour schemes don't need to be only 1 or 2 colours.

Thanks so much for those, that first bouquet is stunning, definitely want peonies in there somewhere they're beautiful flowers.

Think I need to start a book with all these pics in, might help with the inspiration.

If you just go to google images and type in vintage weddings or spring weddings you'll get tons of pics. x

I think any sort of pastel shades is ideal for a spring wedding, all the colours above look great. Congratulations and good luck with the planning x

We have only engaged a week but have decided to get married 2012 and i really want to start planning. Mainly so i can buget ans we can save or pay as we go along.

Congrats from me too!!!!!!!!! i have been planning since i got engaged just under a year ago and still dont no what colours to go for we have definitely absolutely decided on about 4 colours different colours so far lol have decided rather then get an ulcer we are going to get the bridesmaid dresses and go iwth whatever colour (within reason) they choose
