We want to go to New York for our honeymoon, for around 5 nights in April. I've gathered we need to book flights ASAP, which will be end of April/start May, and that they'll be around £400 - is this right?

I've spoken to Dial-a-flight and I know Trailfinders are good. Any other tips on who to go through? Or worth risking doing it all ourselves?

Then - what hotel? I like the look of the Carlton on Madison, which seems a good price too. New York Palace is amazing but too expensive. We want romance on a small budget basically! We don't want to go over around £1400 for hotel and flights. Any recommendations?

Sounds exciting- we are going to the New York Palace for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon. My friends got engaged whilst in the Mad46 bar in the roof garden of the hotel: they stayed at The Roosevelt

Hi! We are going to NY for 5 nights on honeymoon over Christmas. We are saying at The Roosevelt and we're paying £1700ish. We booked it through Travel Councellors so I would say you would be able to do 5 nights in April for your budget easily!

My friends loved the hotel Mrs Duffytobe, you'll have a great time. Go on facebook and become "fans" of the hotel. You often get updates and pictures from people staying there. x

mrsduffytobe - were travel counsellors good? My H2B reckons there's a catch with them! They don't charge a fee do they?

Have a look at Sky Travel http://travel.sky.com/
i went to NYC last May for 4 nights with my Mum and including flights and accomodation cost us £500 each. We also pre booked Empire State Bldg, Sex and the City tour and a harbour cruise. It saves messing about before you go. Also for any theatre shows try http://www.broadwaybox.com/
i booked Mamma Mia through this and it cost £35 and i picked up the tickets on the night.

the hotel was only 3 * in between Times Square and Central Park. It wasn't posh but it was comfy and in a great location.

Amanada Jane - the Westin looks gorgeous, but the cheapest room alone costs more than our budget for hotel+flight!

The Hilton Garden looks way too expensive too! The room alone, again, is over our budget for hotel and flights! Starting to feel like we'll have to stay in a hostel!!!

April next year, which you can't book yet, so i'm looking at dates for this April, as well as summer and Autumn to get a cross-range for an average. The Hilton looks between £800-900, plus flights of £400 each.

Prices go up and down all the time for New York hotels in my experience so I wouldn't decide on one now. I would sign up for special offer updates with some of the chains like Hilton, Marriot, Morgans, etc and they'll email you these offers as and when.

Also check out Hotels.com and Quikbook.com closer to the time for good deals. You'll definately get a hotel in a decent location for your budget, just shop around a bit.

I'm going in November as part of our honeymoon but we won't book the hotel until closer to the date, unless a really good deal appears.

We go to NYC next Thurs ( fo my official proposal!hehe) tres excited!
Anyway, I digress, we are going Thurs til Tues staying at The Metro, we are going with Virgin (have been with them b4), with transfers, pre booked, Cruise and Empire State building and it all came to £1400. We found that its best to keep looking and book when a deal comes up you like as the prices really really fluctuate. Hope that helps x
