Hey guys

Nah we're not both going for dresses. My other half will be wearing a white suit and I'm wearing a white 50's style dress courtesy of Vivienne of Holloway (google them - they're fab!) with pink petticoat and accessories - so jazzing it up a little.

Dunno how traditional and stuff we're going really. Still not sure how my family are reacting about it although general air of pleased which is great

arrgghhhh look at what you did! I might have to pop into Candy Anthony now... you know... just to look

Mushroom82 - it's amazing how much planning you want to do so ahead of time. I'm writing guestlists and all sorts... whereas my other half is like "whoa... slow down... you have 18 months"...

Where are you getting married?

I had questions as well guys. What happens in terms of vows and stuff? A blank canvas is great... but i have no clue!

Vows and stuff - now there is a question. We still haven't entirely dealt with the family thing yet. My partner has told her son and family who are all over the moon and now interferring! I haven't told my mum yet as I know she will not be impressed! Laura you are so smart to have given yourself time! I thought this would all be so straight forward - I wanted everything simple and thought we could sort it with time to spare! If they hadn't have had my dress just come in, in my size, in the back room - I would only just have had time for the 6 month deadline for ordering one! Why does no one tell you this stuff!!!

Hahaha giving ourselves time was a necessity rather than a choice. Need to save up for the wedding first! Does make life easier though.

Guest lists is a difficulty for me! Wanted to invite 50 guests but cutting down to that number is proving difficult! Getting married at Crook Hall gardens in Durham. Haven't even thought about vows. I have no idea what the standard oners are for civil partnership but like the idea of writing our own.

The registrar had some that she showed us. If we write our own we have to take them for her to see two weeks before to check they are ok - we probably will write our own! The reason I didn't give us a long lead time wise is because I thought we would be able to keep the costs down if there was less time to spend!! Guest list is also a problem for us but we got a great package at the hotel which includes 50 for sit down after the ceremony and upto 100 for the evening buffet! Still causing us a problem with the list but I think we are getting there! Invitations next on the agenda for sending so will have to sort the list soon!
