Stupid Coldsores!!!!

Aaaargh I've got another one this is the second in like 2 blooming weeks!!!!!

Anyone know of the best ways to avoid getting these or the best ways to get rid of them quickly?!?!?

I get soooooooooo depressed when I have them I know this is melodramatic as its only a coldsore but I cant help it!!!!

You need to relax! Like spots they can be caused by stress! Treat it with creams and DON'T TOUCH IT!

The best thing is the coldsore zapper you can get from boots - can't remember how much it costs but is pricer than the creams but really works - best as a prevention and you don't have to walk about with cream on you lip...

The last one I had before Christmas I had for 10 WEEKS, it would not go. I tried everything including the light zapper. It only went when I started taking vitamin C and B12 and stopped being so stressed. Also I found that the creams that supposedly were the same as the very well known brand cold sore cream but cheaper were mush thinner and didn't stay on as long.
I go to the point were I was going to start taking oral antivirals but they have really bad side effects.
There is a free trial treatment on Harley Street which involves ozone, it supposedly gets rid of your cold sore in 48hrs but it has to be visible and you have to got to 2 appts. Search ozone coldsore and it comes up

I have suffered from coldsores all my life, i used to get one every month without fail. Just before christmas i started taking ly sine - its an amino acid supplement and i've not had one since. its great. You get it in holland and barrett.

I think I'll try that boots thing then read the reviews and it looks quite good!

Ask your doctor for Aciclovir tablets, I took them in the run up to my wedding as they work as a preventative measure too. They are expensive though so your GP may not prescribe them - where I live they can be bought over the counter (40 euros but worth every cent).

Tea tree oil works much better than Zovirax by the way and much cheaper x

Oh thats a good idea cos I'llnot doubt be stressed and it will be well worth the money!

I'm gonna buy some tea trea oil on the way home from work

Aciclovir tablets are great, i take them everyday as i am also plague by them.
The creams dont really work although i was brought up with a repeat prescription of Zovirax lol

Get the Compeed patches, i swear by them. Massively reduce the pain and swelling and the blistering xx

I second the compeed patches. They do make them less painful, blister less and they tend to clear up a bit better. I have always suffered from the damn things, but I had a spate of one after the other, and had about 3 in a row, turns out I had an abscess in my gum that I didn't realise was there and so my immune system was lowered and the little blighters kept cropping up! I always get them if I am coming down with something, very stressed or if the weather is too hot or cold! I dread one on my wedding day!

I have the super strength bottle and whenever I feel the 'tingle' or other side effects, I apply a little at the top and bottom of my spine then on the soles of my feet for a couple of days and I swear I've not had one since! It's AMAZING and totally natural!

I second the tea tree oil recommendation. I dab it on every hour and usually they are dried up and gone by next day.

I empathise though - I get them occasionally and feel revolting! I was so worried I would get one on my wedding day, but didn't thank goodness!

I can empathise too! I have suffered since i was a toot & the dam things are always guarenteed to rear their ugly head when least needed! have warned h2b that if i get a cold sore - its off lol..

Someone gave me a tip that taking 1000mg of vit c a day should prevent them. ive started taking soluable vit c drinks & so far soo good xxx
