Hi!

I was just wondering if anybody can share their thoughts on ideas rather than a normal guest book.

I really don't want the standard book and would like to do something a little bit different and a little quirky maybe!!

Any thoughts?!

I've got a good idea for you, have you heard of wishing trees? Here's a link for a picture of one http://truecolorsevents.files.wordpress.com/2009/01/guestbook-wishing-tree.jpg
They look really good and basically you could have fancy small bits of paper with ribbon all ready attached and get you guests to write down their messages and to then hang it up on the tree. After the wedding you could use all the messages to make up a collage or scrapbook or something. I would love to do this but H2B isn't too keen. But it's an idea for you! xxx

Oh you could also put fairy lights around it or something, it would look stunning at night time! xxx

First a warning, this will turn out pricey! But brilliant! At a wedding I went to a while ago they had a Polaroid (sp?) camera and everyone took pictures of themselves and wrote a little note on the bottom, then stuck them into a book. I thought it was a lovely way of making sure you end up with a photo of everyone in case your photographer misses anyone!

on confetti, com they have a white signing frame that all the guests write messages on and then you put a favorite picture from the day in it. This way all the lovely messages are permanently on display. x

I really like the wishing tree idea. I have also seen on Martha Stewarts website, little notelets that people fill out with a message of some kind. You then keep all of the pieces of paper to store in a scrap book. By the way, I have heard that polaroids don't last for many years. I have read about brides that go to look back on their pictures and they have turned completely black!

I saw a nice idea for a guest book somewhere where each page has questions on it like:
How do you know the bride and groom?
Favourite memory of the day?
Tips for a happy marriage?

I have no idea where I saw this though, so if anyone knows where I can get one, please let me know.

Hi, i had a wish jar instead of a guest book, its the same idea as a tree, quite cheap to make but effective, we also had a kiss jar that was filled with jelly lips so guests could make a wish n take a kiss!

We wrote quite a quirky poem to go with the jar:
Grab a pen and have some fun
These cards are to be filled by everyone.

Years from this day when we start to reminisce,
These notes will hopefully be worth reading (cos Amy insists)
I didn’t want a fuss you see,
but she twisted my arm so I had to agree!

Write wedding wishes, or helpful advice,
It’s up to you, to improvise.
Fill them with doodles if that’s what you choose
Or memories we share that will make us amused.

When finishing your note please sign your name
Love and thanks from Ad and Amz[/size]

I have put the cards in a scrap book with photos and other bits from the day.

I am hoping to make up cards in a few varying sizes, and am thinking of putting them on the tables with a note explaining what they are for.

I will be doing some larger for those who have alot to say lol, and smaller ones for anyone who wants to write a short message, or a little ode - or draw a picture.
I am also going to put on in the childrens bags for them to draw a picture of something from the day.

I plan to put a prompt card with them ... just a few hints and tips of what sort of things to write.

Then I want to fix them all into our guestbook after the wedding.

Main reason for doing this is that I dont want our guest book to do the rounds and end up battered ... and I also want individual messages from people that they know others arent going to read, and so that people dont just copy what someone else wrote a few pages before lol.
xx
