:\?

Hi all,

I am getting married in Pahos in June 2011 and am having real problems trying to find a style of dress that I like that will be suitable 1) for the hot weather and 2) for being on a beach.

Can anyone help with any suggestions please?

Thanks, Kate xx

I never really went looking for a dress that would be suitable for the heat and location, I picked a dress I like regardless of all that, prob not very sensible but thats me, lol!
If you type in destination wedding dress into google it brings up things that would be worth a look if you havent doen so already - maggie sottero has some lovely destination dresses, might be worthwhile trawling the designers websites and then trying to find stockist close by.
Try not to worry, I'm sure you'll find your perfect dress soon, you've gone a while atleast so try not to rush it, just enjoy trying on all the fab wedding dresses in the shops

Thanks MrsStorey
Yer i just taken a look and some of the dress are absolutely gorgeous!
I think i'll probably end up doing what you have done and just go for one i like rather than thinking will it be suitable all the time (the "beach wedding dresses" ive managed to find so far havent been what i'd call a wedding dress lol)

Choose something loose and not tight fitting. Sweat will show up on photos and is not a good look! Our daughter got married in Cuba last year and she chose a loose dress which was ideal for the weather. Having been to Cuba 4 times and seen brides trying to do the "Traditional English Dress" look does not work. I have seen the brides sweating and uncomfortable and desperate to get the dresses off. I have also spoken to brides who have said that they made a mistake with their dress, that is why our daughter went for comfort. If you aren't comfortable you aren't going to be relaxed and enjoy your day as you should.

I've gone for a cool and sleek style of dress, simply as I felt it would look better for the style of day/ceremony (we are renewing our vows) we are having. There are plenty of dresses about when you look on line. Ella brides do some beautiful ones. The only probably I've found is that the stores I tried tend not to have a lot of the dresses there to try on.

You need to g owith what you feel happy with - after all on your special day you need to feel special!

just choose the dress that you have dreamed of wearing, you only get married once so you have the dress you want, hot or not.
Im gettin married in cyprus and have a big dress, i wouldnt go for a loose one just beacuse its in cyprus as it wouldnt be the dress i want.

Happy dress shopping

ella the sister company of essence are specifically destination and cheaper than maggie! i originally thought stuff it i would rather be hot and have a princess dress but on giving it more thought im going for a destination dress cos wont be able to enjoy the day if im hot and uncomfortable xx

This is mine , the website sucks!!! does the dresses no justice i wouldnt have tried it on if i saw this first !!

I got the best of both worlds with mine as it looks quite big , but its like a bubble dress so its sooooo lightweight , its like wearing a maxi dress,

I would follow your heart, go shopping and see what style takes your fancy dont do it for a particulatr reason, i must say though i didnt want anything massive because of the heat, but everyone is different , enjoy shopping for your dream dress hun xx

Always different opinions on this one - those who are perhaps more sensible and go for for a lighter dress or desination dress and those who go for the dress of their dreams regardless of the location or weather!! Also those who go somewhere inbetween the 2 which may be a good compromise! I'm firmly in the 2nd camp - yep I have a fairly big and heavy dress and yep I'll be hot and sometimes I worry if I should have got a lighter dress but I think I'd regret not getting the dress I really wanted. We only get to do this once afterall!! And you can always get married later in the day when the worst of the heat is over, if you're having a recpetion there it will likely be in an air conditioned place too.
The only issue I've had with having a big dress is not being able to fit it in my hand luggage as I originally wanted, I've relented and decided to buy a strong hard suitcase to put it in the hold and attach a luggage tracker tag just incase the worst happens!!
Always difficult trying to decide whether to follow your head or your heart
