As a guest, what would you prefer?

We're having a slight debate in our families at the moment over the timing and plans of the reception.

After the ceremony at the church, we're having formal photographs at the church. We then can't decide what to do so I'll give a few options below:

1 - Guests (with clear gentle instruction) amble round to the village hall while formal photos are happening where they will be guided to a cream tea to enjoy while me and h2b have photos of just us two.

2 - Guests wait for us to finish formal photos and then we all have a cream tea then in the gap between the cream tea and the hog roast, me and h2b dissapear for personal photos. We're not having evening guests so I don't know if people would wonder where the heck we're going.

Has anyone got any other options?
What would you prefer as a guest? Tell me honestly!

I don't want guests to be bored but on the other hand, I want to be able to spend as much time with them as possible because we have friends travelling from over 400 miles away and we really want to be able to have a decent chat wih them.

Option 1 in my opinion, it is quite boring as a guest to hang around watching photos being taken and that way you get the photos out of the way and can enjoy chatting with your guests

My in-laws are convinced that this isn't the way to do things, that guests won't know what to do because we won't be there to welcome them. Our whole theme is really chilled out so I don't think that anyone will mind at all.

I'm very welcome to anyone saying otherwise though.

Option 1 for me

i went to a wedding where we have photos at church then couple went off for photos alone and we went to reception they came after us, we were all seated and cheered as they came in!! i thought this was the normal thing to do!!xx

I'd say option 1, but make sure people that are supposed to be in the formals don't disappear! Maybe articulate it to guests that they are 'free to go to xx for cream teas while the bride and groom continue photos' so that some people can watch and mingle at the church. You could consider briefing someone to take charge in case people get lost, as your ushers etc will probably be in the main photos.

Guest should know what to do as surely there will be people serving the cream teas?? You can even get someone to announce your arrival to the rest of the party!

I would say option 1.
ive been to weddings and we got bored when pics were going on so we all drove to the reception...Via Topshop to get some gel partyfeet to go in my seriously high shoes that were killing me!!!!
