Subject: Party at home? before or after?
I am debating if we should have a party or not at home?

Do you think it pushes the price up or do you think it is necessary?

Also if you have a party at home would you do it before or after the wedding?

We are getting married on the 29th October so a party before in the UK might be better (in sept) due to weather or are you meant to have it after?

Thoughts ladies xxx

It will definitely push the price up but it just depends on how much and that really depends on what kind of party you want - you could do anything from a house party, restaurant meal, pub, village hall or hotel if you want to spend more.
I think people generally have them after the celebrate their newly married status, it you have it before it would be more like a farewell do rather than celebrating your marriage?? Not sure sure, we're having our a few days after we get back, its costing a fair bit as we're doing it in a hotel (about 7.5 - 8K) - decorating the room with chair covers etc, having cake, dj, choccy fountain, sweetie table, photographer etc but you could do it waaaay cheaper than us, we're getting married alone so splashing out a bit of the uk party.
Not everyone has one though so if its not high on your priority list there's nothing to say you have to have one!! Or you could hire a room at pub or village hall to keep costs down if you dont want to spend too much.......

hiya,

We are having a reception after and we havent gone ott, we have 50 guest flying out so its really just a get together to show pics and vids and have a dance with friends that weren't able to get out to see us, hehe!! we got a dj, a cupcake stand and having baloons and some spaklies on tables, to give it a more wedding feel than just a function , we have hired a function room and provided a cold finger buffett,
you can make it as lavish or simple as you want to really....good luck x

We're similar to lollybride, have loads of guests coming with us so just an evening party at home and we're having a dj, wedding cake, decorations and balloons. We've got chair covers and bows too to make it a bit more weddingy! x

I don't think we're having a reception. I wouldn't know where to have it as we have people dotted all over the country. We also decided to do the abroad option to keep costs down, and there are only 14 of us in total flyingto Cyprus, but it's all the people that matter the most.
Also, I'd have it afterwards, then you can wear your dress twice!

I think if you have one you should have it after so you can wear your dress again.

We are having one and it has put the price up a lot. A hell of a lot actually but we have gone all out with drinks and marquees. You could do it much cheaper I'm sure.
