Is anyone else getting married in Germany or were married in Germany?

Kann jemand etwas gut empfehlen?

Can you share any recommendations with me?
Any suppliers or websites? Germany seems to be a void for anything wedding related that is actually nice and of a decent quality or ANY recommendations would be great!

I specifically need, hair/make up
videographer
Cake people and flower people (in Munich or Baveria)

Please let me know if you know or have used anyone.

I can also share come contacts to suppliers, I have found some awesome people and other not so great!

Thanks ladies.

I live in Germany, in Frankfurt though, not Bavaria (there is a HUGE difference )

There are plenty of things here that are nice and of good quality.

Have you thought about flying over and going to a wedding fair here? I went to one in Frankfurt in January and I got plenty of ideas.

Can you speak German? If so have a look on here

http://www.hochzeitsforum.de/

That would be your best bet.

Can I ask why you have chosen Germany? I am curious

Hi there - sorry was not suggesting anything too bad however when you compare things to the UK, US or Australia I must admit I am VERY disappointed with what is on offer here.

I am getting married here because I live here and am going to marry a german. I can speak german enough to commincate with suppliers and co-ordinate the wedding.

I just think the wedding industry is not as developed here as it is in the english speaking world and that shows, by either a lack of quality and nice product or the outrageous prices which they do charge when you do find something nice or a little different. I also find that service is appaling -no matter how much you are paying they treat you as if they are doing you a favour and often are just plain rude!

I am just finding it difficult and was hoping that someone had contact to suppliers and people that provided a more American or UK style service - which is sadly very different to what is on offer here.

I will have a look at that forum thanks for the info!

Ah right I had thought you had just chosen Germany just because Munich is so pretty (which it is)

You are right about the wedding industry not being as developed I agree, however there are plenty of good things out there. Oh and yes the prices have totally blown me away too - I was quoted 130€ for 100g of personalised chocolate sweets (a bit like mini eggs).

Since you live here you should definitely try and go to a wedding fair, there are quite a lot around mainly in the winter months.

Ah they are not rude - honestly they are not. They are just direct, that is the way people are here, we don't need the smiley politeness that people insist on in the UK.

Are you on Toytown Germany? I just did a search for wedding on there and a few things came up

Oh and the things that you are disappointed with are the exact reasons why we have decided to get married in Italy. I couldn't cope with the 'Korinthenkacker'' attitude here, I wouldn't be surprised if they only let you get married on certain days in the month and with copies of birth certificates of last 10 people you have spoken too!!

Saying that you can still have a fab wedding here, order lots of things online and from other sources.
