Went for our Menu Tasting last night....

... OMG was fantastic!! The hotel have got a new head chef, started 6 weeks ago so I was a bit worried when I found that out, what if the food wasn't as good as before.... well my worries where put to rest when the canapes came out....lovely, the starters blew us away - we're now thinking how the hell are we going to make a choice for our guests, then the mains came out - A.Mazing!!!

Doug and I were supposed to swap our dishes over half way through so we could each try them but mine was so tasty I didn't want to let it go...!! I did tho, and promptly fell in love with the dish Doug had started on!!! Was all going great till the dessert came out - it wasn't what we had asked to try....!!! But we are so glad it wasn't!!! Steve (the chef) had pulled together a trio of the most amazing desserts ....including homemade ginger ice cream with homemade honeycomb, chocolate truffle cake, lemon tart and spectacular spun sugar canes..its was just FANTASTIC!!!

So sitting at the table we are so stuffed and wondering which is the best dish to put on our wedding breakfast menu - when Steve comes out for a chat with us... we explain our dilemma in loving it all, so he says, well then offer the choice to your guests and let them pick... I immediately worry about what that will do to the cost, but says that as the mains were similar prices to start with, it won't change the cost at all!!! So we are now going to offer our guests a choice of 2 starters, 3 mains but for dessert no choice, we are going to surprise them with the spectacular dessert that Steve gave us last night!!!

Going for a long walk today to walk off all the lovely food!!

Niks that is fantastic news! Glad everything worked out good, the dessert especially sounds fantastic! What options have you gone for?

Our venue hasn't mentioned anything about menu tasting yet but we are meeting with her next weekend so iam going to ask then i think! xx

We're going to offer Caramlized red onion tart with somerset brie and sweet & sour pear or Ham and Split pea soup for starters, then the mains are Roast Rib of Beef with yorkshire puds and veg, Poached Chicken breast on potato rosti with a cream spinach & basil sauce or Wild mushroom risotto - yum making me hungry again! We also got to try various wines last night as well - menu tastings rock! lol!

wow! that does sound amazing. We don't get ours til August... hope its as good as yours or at least close!

That sounds absolutely yummy, we're going to organise a tasting at some point for us and both sets of parents so we can all try a few meals. x

Yum yum, i cant wait for this part! Cant believe you have had it so early i was expecting in it july/auug sometime, although im still to arrange a meeting with the venue to discuss a few things

Nikniks it all sounds lovely, i am in bed with a bug but my mouth is watering as haven't eaten anything since last night.The desert sounds scrummy and think that's a great option to give guests a trio of desert. Something for everyone then. We don't do our food tastig until July time, but looking forward to it.

oo-er, have I been a bit previous having my tasting already then - I thought I was leaving it late lol!!! Am sure all yours will be wonderful too... BLK Bride, do you get to pick your menu before you go over to SA even if you can't try it. symonds2b hope you feel better soon hun xx
