Subject: Kit Hall- is she worth it?- opinions needed
Hi Ladies
I'm thinking about booking Kit Hall to do make up and hair and shes free on the date of the wedding. Before I confirm the booking and pay the £75 deposit, i just wanted to gauge some opinions on whether she is good as everyone is making her out to be,

I'm having a trial before I pay the deposit if that makes sense? I'm glad I have because the people I've tried have all been awful!!!
Kit Hall is on my list of people to try. Price wise, apart from the £75 to come to my venue, she's as reasonable as local beauty salons around here.

I am also having a trail before paying anything... Are you not able to do that? She's the only one I've booked do far, so hoping that she is good! Got her as a recommendation from ladies on here who all have had nothing but positive thongs to say about her... So fingers crossed!

To confirm the booking, i need to pay £75 as a deposit to hold the date, then £75 on the trial and balance on the wedding day. Shes holding the date for 2 weeks. I'm not sure if i should just go ahead and book her as shes come highly recommended on here. But then again, the wedding is not until next April so i might find someone better??? :\?

Why don't you ask to have a trial in those 2 weeks. Pay £75 deposit, have a trial. If you like her, agree to pay £75 to hold the date, then the rest on the day.
The way I see it, you don't buy a wedding dress without seeing it so why should you buy your "make-up and hair" without seeing it?
Kit has been lovely with me, worth asking?!

Totally worth every penny! I'd have paid double for her if necessary. She worked miracles with my pre-wedding stressed skin (i.e. scary spots on my chin), made my hair "running-man proof", in fact it would have lasted until the following morning had I not had five bridesmaids to unravel it all for me, and generally made everyone look and feel gorgeous and confident.
She's not just good at what she does, she's also super chilled and was a great calming influence on us all on the morning, keeping us entertained with her celebrity make up stories and generally being relaxed about everything that was thrown at her - including a very bossy photographer. She even kept my crazy mother in check.
If I did it all again she'd be top of my "must have" list!!!

vikihalo - she sounds great... am really looking forward ot having a trial with her! What sort of style did you go with? At the trial - how many did she do with you?
Hollygems - would love to see pics of your hair and make up after your trial on Friday if you are willing?? When are you getting married?
Blubb - I do see what you mean... your wedding is over a year away - but if you find someone great then it'll def be worth it at the end of the day... But yes, difficult choice - although she does come highly recommended on here.
Her website is http://www.slap-artists.co.uk/kit/kit.html

My sister had a great lady called Nadine Pyke do her make-up; she does have a website and is based near West London I think . You could email her for a comparison???

With regard to hair she did a few styles, but it was mainly variations on a theme as I knew roughly what I wanted and so had taken along a "mood board" of images. Basically she created something that worked with my hair type and face shape drawing on the influences from all the images I had collected.
With regard to make up I showed her a picture of exactly what I wanted and she replicated it perfectly, but I still looked like me. On the day, for my bridesmaids again I had an idea of the "theme" or "look" I was going for and wanted it in keeping with my overall look but still wanted them to look like themselves and be comfortable and so she adapted the make up and the colours to suit each girl's colouring and style - that didn't require a trial. My mum also had her for her makes up, again that didn't require a trial, and she was over the moon with the result.

Thank you ladies for all your comments. I've sent my form to Kit this morning to confirm my booking and actually relieved that its another thing ticked off my very long list. So many people can't be wrong!!
HollyGems- please let us know how you get on at the trial.
