Subject: How much are you paying?
Hi ladies

I have started looking into hiring a make up artist for my big day in October however I was wondering what is a reasonable price.
I have been quoted £150 for make up on wedding day and £50 for trial, plus travel costs.

It would be great if I had something to compare this quote to.

By the way I'm in the Midlands so if any of you have got recommendations for hair and make up artists then please let me know.

Many thanks

And mine is £70 with a trial included. My friend had a free make up trial at Bobbi Brown though and then just bought the make up herself which is another option. £200 including a trial seems way over priced.

Hi Twiceas nice!
This is a tricky one, Ive had trials with both cheaper makeup people (£50 for the day) and really expensive people (£250!!!!!!!) and had the worst makeup look at the end of it!
A high or low price cant always buy you quality or a fab look, I think the best thing is to try a few. Recomendations are the best from friends or on here!

Ive booked a lady who did my friends wedding makeup 2 years ago. I know shes fab and we get on great which I think is really important.
She is charging me £125 for the day and my trial was £25 but that was at her work and I got the money back to spend on MAC stuff which she helped me with to.
Some people may think £125 is alot or not much at all but I know im getting a top notch MAC lady doing my makeup (including false lashes) and I know it will lasting all day and look good for my pics!

If you think she is worth it and you have not found anyone else you like I would just go fo it! You want to look your best on your wedding day so why go for second best just because of price? You spend a fortune on dresses and venues etc, why skimp on how you look?

Let us know what you do hun!

I'm having a lady called rachel liney, based in leicestershire, east midlands. She has a website. She is charging me approx 400 to do hair and make up for me, two adult bridesmaids, my mum and the hair of my two little bridesmaids. I know she's amazing as she did my best friends wedding in 2003 and i was chief bridesmaid. Gorgeaus natural make up that makes you look like you, not a clown! And she did amazing up dos! Plus lovely and unobtrusive and helps you into your dress. Worth every penny, and a trial in that for the bride beforehand. Also so easy having hair and make up done by the same person, one less supplier to worry about on the morning.

I'm paying £250 for a Mac artist to do my 4 BMs and my mom- she's doing me for free (£70 otherwise). She did my makeup for my engagement party and I loved it. She's a friend of a friend so she might charge more usually.

If you go into mac (or any other make up counter) and get a trial that you're please with you could discreetly ask if theydo freelance.

Hi

Im paying £45 for mine, £30 for trial.

It would be £70 but because my mum and bridesmaids are getting theirs done too, it brings it down to £45 each. Thats including MAC lash.

Hi I am London based and paying £300 for my makeup and trial. I did shop around a lot and saw a lot of examples of work but she provided the look I wanted. My artist is also including Airbrush foundation. xx

Nikibaby84 Blimey your makeup is a bargain, who are you using?
I'm getting married near Coventry/Rugby so need someone fairly local.
I can't believe the variation in all of your prices, I don't believe paying more money guarantees a better makeup artist.
I did speak to one makeup artist last week and she didn't seem to know what Shu Uemera eyelash curlers were!!! Surely they are the must have tool in any professional make up bag.

Good luck!
