Im thinking of using these in my centerpieces, has anyone used these before for whatever reason.
Can they be coloured and fragranced?

Im using gel crystals in my centrepiece vases. The ones you soak in water then the bead swell up. I know you can buy them already coloured from ebay or counrty baskets, not sure about fragrance. I have bought tall teal coloured vases and im lighting them up using floralytes which you can buy plain or coloured. They look amazing but sorry i haven't got a picture.
I found some clear gel crystals in The Range on sunday for only 99p per packet which is cheaper than country baskets.

i orginally looked at some beads but they are quite expensive for the amount needed then thought of this, such a cheap option. i can see that you can buy colored ones but my theme is burgandy and the red is too red.
I have read that you can color them with food dye so il try that, i can also see that you can but fragranced ones, i think il order some clear ones and experiment a little with some essential oils!

Just had a quick look at the packet and it dosn't say anything about not mixing with other chemicals. i think the food colouring will be fine but i would do a trail with the fragrance. but i think the worst thing that could happen is that they would just dissolve faster. They last for months so that wouldn't be a problem either on the day. I did think of fragrance but one of my guests had quite bad asthma and gets irritated by scented candles so i had to rule that out.
I will try to post a pic of mine when i get my mirror plates and do a full trial. Would be nice to see yours too..
