My dress - need very honest opinions as am bring driven nuts

With less than 7 weeks to go and a shrinking bank account, I'm having more dress wobbles & would love to get some honest opinions on my dress. Its being taken in as its a size too big, but I think its coming up too high on the chest area, what do you think?

Hi I think you look lovely in your dress however I know how you feel as I think mine is sitting a bit low....

It has to be right for you.... Can they lengthen the straps???

I'm just sooo unsure & its driving me mad, on one hand the dress is too big & its being taken in at the mo so might look amazing when I go back for my next fitting but on the other I really want it to flatter my chest & I'm just not getting that initial butterfly feeling I had when I first tried it on. My mum has suggested getting some different underwear, something that gives me more of a lift but I'm just now wondering if it would look better without the straps, that way I can also wear a jacket as I hate my arms! Argh!!!

I think your dress looks stunning and really suits you. Your waist looks great and I think when the alterations are complete you'll feel differently. It's always worrying when a dress is too big, makes it hard to visualise the end fit. I think it looks lovely on you, and feel sure the dressmaker will want to maintain the original fit at the bust so all will be well. I agree with your mum about the underwear. Going all Gok here, but a really good bra might make you feel more content with how your chest looks, though I think the halterneck is great for doing that. Your dress is lovely and you lokk great in it.

I agree with Maobride, your dress looks fab and you look gorgeous in it, think the neckline is a really good shape for you. On the bra front have you tried bravissimo? i'm a size 38JJ and they have great bras that are pretty and uplifting! they also do ones with halterneck straps.

maryjon I was going to go for a halter dress but I had the same worry as you. The lady I saw told me the most flattering thing to do it to make the straps slightly thinner and this really does work. Might be worth looking into. You look stunning in the dress though

Awe thanks for your kind comments ladies, am going to phone my seamstress tomorrow & see if she can lower the neckline somehow.

i know exactly how you feel..they kept giving me dresses to try with a straight across the top neckline, no v necks halters or sweet hearts an d i was frustrated why they kept trying to covermy best assets lol
to which she replied 'the vicar doesnt want those in his face' i said my vicar is female i doubt it! she then said 'dont put it past her shes probably a lesbian if shes a vicar' i replied with jaw dropped ' she has 4 kids and a husband and for all you know i could be a lesbian' (im not lol) needles to say i stormed out:D

i think you look gorgeous in that dress but you are right about the neckline being high and if your not comfortable with it then have it changed ..its your day , your dress and you have to be happy and confident on your big day

can i suggest trying a masquerade hestia bra.. they do a corset too but the straps can be changed into halterneck or removed completely and lots of support still. check on ebay or google:)

i remember feeling like that when i was trying dresses on...
i wanted to show my bust off with out being tarty..
even if i buy clothes now i dont like things that are to covered up as i feel heavy busted in them,..
i would chat to your seamstress after the alterations have been done if you are still not happy with how the top sits....
but i know where you are coming from!!!!

Your waist is tiny compared to mine lol, Id wait until all the alterations are done and then see how you feel, also try getting a spray tan which will make your skin look different if you don't like your arms, they can add shading now to make your legs and arms look thinner, and do hair and make up so you look at your best, when you try it on after the alterations, Just an idea x

Just a quick update, went back for another look at the dress today & have ,made the decision to take the straps off and I feel soo much better about the dress. I think it looks much better and it means I will feel more comfortable wearing a shurg/bolero and hopefully looks more flattering.

I have to admit that it looks great without the straps and makes your boobies look fab!

Don't go to 'heavy' or covered up with the shrug/bolero though cos you look gorge without one
