We moved into a rented house in november, and had a few problems along the way one of which is very bad damp, so we complianed to letting agency and an air flow system was put in the loft, our contract is up in may and angency contacted landlord to ask if they would extend it and they wrote back saying no we have to be out by 11th may,
i think this is only cos weve complained as rent has always been paid on time,
now we're stuck trying to find somewher to go for a reasonable price but will struggle as we wont get bond back on this place till after we leave,
relly dont know wot to do as cheap rentals are few and far between

Have you had a look on rightmove. They usually have all rental properties available on that site. Also some councils will help you with bond money. Don't know a lot about it but I have some stuff. Hope you get this sorted x

Also try findaproperty.com. They'll have loads of properties for rent and sale in any area you specify and they email you straight away when a new one goes on.

Hope you get it all sorted soon x

Just googles flats to rents in whiston and loads came up fron 375 to over 700 amonth, also zoopla came up with a few loads are near a hospital, not sure if this is any good, get a letter from your present landlord saying what a good tenant you have been and that you are due to get your deposit /bond money back, you should have some increase in this as the landlord should have had you deposit in a hi interest account for you,say to gave him 500 he should give you back a increase probably not much due to rubbish interest rates but a little increase never the less. good luck.

If the landlord is being an arse over giving you aletter of recommendation, tell your prospective new landlord what has truthfully happened, your flat was damp and it was affecting your health, you complained and he has not renewed your lease.could you short term borrow the deposit as you say you are getting it back, possibly a loan of just over a week in terms of repaying, again explain it to new landlord, get some good references from work, friends,to help you build a good case as a really good tenant.

I would also say have a look in your local paper and try for a private landlords, you may be able to barter wth them a bt more on the deposit. Good Luck!

Can you go on the Council Housing List? If you go on it now and you're going to have to move in a few months, wouldn't that prioritize your need?
