Hi

Do we have to give different favours to men and women?

We were just going to give all our guests the same favours (sweets) is this not the done thing?

My friend gave cigars which at the time was lovely, but my H2b and dad have recently quit smoking so this would not be suitable.

Also would we put favours on the top table?

I get confused! :\?

Hi there. It does'nt really matter. I am making homemade ones. I am doing bag charms for the ladies and funky keyrings for the guys. Sweets is the most popular and alot of people tend to go for that.

Ive got favours for the top table. but i bought in bulk anyway so it allowed me to do so. Were having handmade chocolates from ebay and putting them inside organza favour bags. Same for both men and women. total cost £75 for 100 guests

I haven't decided yet but my friend had chocolates for females and little bottles of whiskey for men.

Boys like sweeties and chocolate too! I’ve been to a couple of weddings where there were no favours at all and nobody cared one jot – a small edible token is enough I think. Some weddings are more lavish affairs with miniature perfume, spirits etc which add something special but really can break the bank. We’re having home made welsh cakes in little bags tied with ribbon. My mum’s doing 3 in each bag – one traditional (raisins and nutmeg), one orange and one raspberry and white chocolate. They’re all frozen and ready to be bagged up the day before the wedding. Very cheap as home made and a bit spesh for that very reason. Boys and girls all get the same. The only people I’d maybe think about having a different/additional favour for is babies/small children – we’re having around 20 kids at ours so doing little party bags for them with crayons and whatnot in to keep them entertained! Our 2 kids are 20 months and 3 so know from experience that it’s been much appreciated when they’ve had something extra to entertain themselves! At one friend’s when our son was only a few weeks old he had a hand knitted finger puppet for his prezzie – he couldn’t eat or drink anything so it was nice to have a little keepsake that he can play with now. You stick to the sweeties – no need to complicate things too much! x

We're going for little boxes of retro sweets, of course this meant we had to try them before we fill them!

Thank you megmegs82 I found your response reassuring! I have already begun buying bits and bobs for the kids bags.
Sweets it is!
I don't have alot of spare budget for the favours so am very happy to stick to the sweets! x
