Subject: DOGS AT WEDDINGS! OPINIONS!?!
Hi everyone!

Sooooo, can I have some views on this please! Or if anyone has done this?? Would love to know what you did and how you got on?
We have two small dogs and to me they are family and I would so love to have them there for at least a pic with me and H2B, with bows round there necks! How cute! Have thrown some ideas around with H2B but he's not buying it at the mo, ha ha.
Logically I was thinking they could maybe join us for pics at the church after the service or if our venue lets us maybe they could be with us there during arrival drinks? Also thinking we would prob have to pay someone like a sitter/walker to bring them to us, look after them whilst there, and then take them home again, but we will be paying someone to look after them anyway on the day so this would just be something extra to ask of them.
What are your thought??? xxx

Haha, I would love to have our dog come to a bit of the wedding... I think if you have someone who can look after them, then it should be fine and quite fun!

It's not going to happen for us though... too much hassle I think!

I have just emailed our wedding coordinator to see what she thinks!! I have no idea what she'll say but the more I think about it, the more I really really want them there!!!
I was thinking also that they might steal some attention but they will be a talking point for guests, and it would be quite unique! Think I would keep it secret from all our guests too x x x

LOVE IT! Our dog is our world (sad I know!) and he would definitely be coming for a little while. Can't wait to get a professional picture of us and the hound!

My mum's friend is a dog trainer and her second (very informal) wedding had dogs at the evening do! It was a garden do with a gazebo and everyone took their dogs - it was so lovely (although a bit manic!). It was a BBQ and drinks style so was very relaxed - don't think I'd want them at a sit down meal!

I'm sorry but NO NO NO! I've got an amazing Border Collie called Jack who I love to bits (probably more than my H2B lol) but I'm not having him at our wedding. He is going to our local kennel (who are FANTASTIC) for the day and night, like a little holiday hehe. Reasons why its a no:

1) I'll have enough stress on the day as it is.
2) It's not fair on the dog..all of those people, photos, chaos and then being taken away from you.
3) It will be sad when looking at pics in the future lol as he would have passed on to doggy heaven
4) What if he misbehaves? Wees or poops where he shouldnt because of excitement?!
5) Our Church and hotel do not allow dogs because it's unhygeneic (apparently).

I also think its a bit tacky, reminds me of jordan for some reason, but obv thats just my personal opinion.

If you are mega desperate can't you have photos of you with the dog then get someone to take him to H2B and have photos separately, like get it out of the way? xx

Ahhh MrsWills your dog is gorgeous! What a lovely pic!

Thank you for your points charli159, having thought about it, and please don't take this the wrong way, these are my answers if you like;
1) I don't stress too easily, plus they won't be with me when I'm getting ready at my parents, they will just be bought over for say half our during arrival drinks at reception.
2)I see what you mean about this but we are not having a large wedding and lots of kids, I would also ask the dog sitter to walk the dogs away if they were getting distressed for any reason, then I would sneak of and go give them a cuddle! Same goes for any misbehavior.
3)I want them in pics now as they are part of our life now just as I want my nans in pics with me, it will be sad, but I want to remember they were part of our life!
4)They will be outside so any toilet mishaps can be quickly picked up and disposed of by dog sitter.
5) I can see why a our venue my turn round and say no but seeing as they will be outside and for only half an hour I hope its ok! Plus our venue is a Georgian, privately owned country house (rather than hotel) and I've seen the owners 2 little dogs walking around in and outside!!

But thank you for all your responses, more thoughts and views welcome, and I can certainly see why at first glance you might all think I'm mad! x x x :s

I have a little lhasa apso who I love to bits but he won't be at our wedding. Im not personally a fan of the dogs in tuxedo etc but if its what u and y2b want then you should at least look into itx

Don't think we'd do outfits (although I make dog coats for a living!) But I think a bow round the neck or some flowers - think they should make an effort if they are invited! xxx

I think its a great idea! Go for it! I want my cat in the photos but that just isnt going to be possible, I'd be too freaked out that he'd run off and escape! But he is such a big part of our life doesn't seem right that he won't be part of it. I think your idea of just having the dogs there for a few photos is really good. I would if I could but I'm settling for a cat figure on my wedding cake

We dont have a dog at the moment but we would love our cat Bernie there and it is killing me that he cant come as its not fair with him being a cat, he wont be ale to stand the hour journey and he wont be able to roam about but if he was a dog i wouldnt think twice so go for it!!!! We are having to make do with him just being a figurine on the cake
