Subject: Bought new dress after ebay china wedding dress disaster :-)
Well ladies I bought my dress off Ebay last year for £100 with all good intentions of wearing it for our wedding this August 28th.
When i got it i instantly disliked the quality of the lace which looked really cheap and felt really tough, Anyhow i put aside my worries and tried it on but it was 2 inches shorter than it should have been. I not only followed the measuring guide to a tea but i went and got myself professionally measured just to be on the safe side. Anyhow not only was the dress too short but the neckline was meant to show a little bit of cleavage..only it started really high up and completely hides my chest so it looked daft
I've spent the last 8 months worrying like mad but not saying anything to Scott because we are on a tight budget and have another £1000 to save as it is..Only everyday we drive past a beautiful wedding dress shop and he saw me gazing at the dresses in the sale window so he asked me if im happy with my dress and ive told him im not but ill make do.
Anyway last night we took our puppy to have her first vaccinations and the vets just happens to be right next to the wedding dress shop and I SAW IT!!! the dress of my dreams, Its an Ivory dress with tiny crystals all over it with a long train and its got a silverbrooch design on the hip..its out of this world! Scott saw me looking and said "if i could buy it you i would babe" but i told him im happy to get my dress repaired or altered.
Anyway last night i dreamt non stop about this dress, this morning i rang the hop and asked them about the dress, Its a Justin Alexander dress (im useless with names so hope hes a good dress maker!) and was £1100 and now only £550 (OMG!!!) It also just happens to be my pre pregnancy size 16, I couldnt believe my luck! I text Scott and told him ive fallen in love with this dress and he told me to go and buy it from our savings which i have done!!!
Im so excited I just had to tell you all I am due to have our baby in may and am now on a mission to make sure i dont put too much weight on and eat healithy

Awwww well done hun

You sound so happy. You can't wear a dress your not happy with

I got one of my dresses from China and absolutely love it but its a custom made dress and I ordered directly with them rather than through ebay.

Your H2B sounds lovely. Bless him!

We're having two weddings. One in Mauritius and one in the UK and I bought three wedding dresses. An original Maggie ssottero dress in a sample sale for £495, a designer dress from Berketex and my chinese dress and H2B was happy to pay for all three dresses. Talking about being self indulgent lol My budget was £1.5k. I did fall in love with a caroline castigliano dress that was £3k but £1.7k in a sample sale but couldn't justify the price tag. i thought I'd split the money and have three dresses instead lol

I bet you can't wait to wear your gorgeous dress now

Brilliant! Well done - you have to be 100% happy with your wedding dress, you only get to do this once and you cant just "make do" and regret it! I'm so glad you got the dress of your dreams xx

Im over the moon, i think i built it al up in my head for son long that im glad its been resolved now
I know a couple of girls who have ordered dresses from more reputable chinese companies since i ordered mine and they love theirs, I was just unfortunate i guess. I was considering searching for a good chinese company again but was scared about the measurements being wrong again or the material wrong so im glad ive seen my actual dress in the flesh and know what im buying. Scotts brilliant, and i feel very lucky n relieved now
This forums brilliant for recommendations. It works out for most people buying from China, I was just unfortunate and maybe didnt go with the right company

I'm glad you have the dress of your dreams and your partner was glad to let you have it from your wedding savings.

You might be able to sell the Chinese dress?

Good luck!

Bamba xx

Ahh good to hear hun!! You must be so happy!! I have heard so many mixed reviews about ordering from China, I don't think the control freak in me would let myself buy one!!

Wow congratulations and yes, Justin Alexander is an excellent designer. I wore JA 8196 for my wedding last November, they are pure princess dresses.

Thanks girls! Your definatelt right..theres nothing worse than keep opening up my wedding dress bag and my heart sinking I cant believe i didnt say anything for 8 months!
The dress ive got now is just perfect for me and i feel much happier knowing it will be professionally altered by the wedding dress shop for only £50.
Scotts brilliant, He's got two extra weekend jobs building walls (hes a bricklayer) over the next 2 weeks to pay for the dress <3
The code for the dress is 8429, think its late 2009 design and i got it half price because its been discontinued now. I spent so much more time and effort making sure the bridesmaids and the men look good and get good outfits that i forgot about myself.
Just have to think about changing the design of my bouquet to fit in with the dress now
