Subject: Mum no longer making my dress
Hi Girls

After months of talking to my mum about making my dress, we have decided that it would be better if we handed it over to another dressmaker. The reason being that my mum has become increasingly nervous and worried that she wouldn't be good enough to make it.

We went to see a dressmaker today called Marilyn Hall and she totally got what I was after and offered to make the dress even though it's short notice (getting married in June). I will have my toile fitting in the middle of April and thereafter she will start the real dress. I will then go back for another fitting for adjustments etc and then a final fitting 2 weeks before the wedding.

Marilyn will be drawing up a sketch of the dress and posting it to me hopefully this week, I am getting really excited now as my vision and dream is going to be a reality very soon.

Bless my mum she has paid for her to do it for me, and cue one happy and stress free mum as well, bonus!

That's a shame that your mum won't be making the dress any longer but it'll be much better to take that stress off your mum rather than have her worrying.

The dressmaker sounds awesome though, what is your dress going to be like? I know you've mentioned before about it being in a 50s style but what material / neckline etc. How exciting! June is going to come round so soon! How's the rest of your planning going?

It will have a slash neckline and no sleeves with an organza overlay on the skirt and it will be about ankle length, the colours will be pale gold and cream.

Everything else is pretty much sorted now and the invites have all nearly been given/posted out.

I will be making the centrepieces nearer to the wedding, starting to feel excited about it now.

Here is a pic of what the dress is based around, only mine will be having a bigger bow at the back, and the skirt will be fuller.

I have bought the cream version of these cake stands and like the pic I am wrapping flowers around them with strings of pearls as well.

Thank you ladies x.

Gemmy - I won't be doing a report or putting pics up as I'm quite a private person, however i can email a few pics to the ladies I have got to know on this forum.

Van Vegas - can't wait to see a pic of your dress.

jemwarrior, that's fair enough! Can I ask where are you getting your pearls from for your centrepieces?

Gemmy - I bought them from Lavenders of London at the wedding show, they were £4.49 per tube of 10 metres. You just cut them to the length that you want.

You can purchase them online and they do different colours, I had the Ivory, however they do a lovely pearlised colour as well, here is the link and a pic if it works!

They do some gorgeous stuff, it's well worth looking on their website.
