Subject: your videographer expectations
Hi, I'm not advertising here, I'm interested in feedback as to what brides really expect from a videographer. Most couples, I'm finding, are not really sure what they want to see on a video.

All of the ceremony and speeches or just a short edit - 6 hour tapes down to 30 minutes?

When you pay £750 - £1500 of your hard earned cash for a video of your wedding we typically will be chasing the whole day with anticipation. There's the co-ordinating of technical equipment, carrying loads of gear (making sure it doesn't walk away), and trying to be calm and compose shots professionally in one take. Personally, I'm thinking about switching roles to photographer, but definately hire an assistant for the next gig.

have booked a videographer for the reason that i want a videa of the groom waiting for me at the church including the omg what am i doing look that i am sure comes over lots of grooms lol. also the ceremony and the speeches. The best bit is also the comments taht my videographer is going to get from my guests i ahve seen some they havbe done before and think they are hilarious as they get people at the point where they have had a few drinks but not overly drunk, so comments are funny and not innapropriate

We have booked a videographer last minute as we thought, it would allow us to see our wedding... Our videographer sent a copy of a video he had done for someone elses wedding and it recoreded all the actual wedding, speaches, photos being done and it also had a highlights bit so when watching it on the dvd you could watch it all or just show people the highlights so a shorter version... I think as long as the videographer does not get in the way of the photographer as the photos are more important to us then all is well.. I like what you said deppiep73 it will be nice to see my h2b before I arrive... I didnt think of that...

i want to see the whole day. i think it'll go by in a flash so i'd like to be able to look back at everything. Especially the bits i'll miss like everyone arriving at the church and all that jazz x

I was having the same thoughts...but you can't please every bride, and every bride is different. You should do what you want to do, its your art at the end of the day. Personally, i prefer the trailers and sometimes the 20 minute films, but no more. Who wants to sit through hours? My favourites are still motion, mintyslippers, joe simon and fx films. They are like mini films, something gorgeous and capturing the day perfectly. Other brides want to see hours of the day, but I doubt there friends will...its a personal choice, but i doubt you can achieve both to a great standard and not charge the earth doing so!
