Subject: Husband wants me to get an abortion, please help!
Hi, I really need some help.
I found out last Thursday I'm 6/7 weeks pregnant and was pleased even though it's unplanned, my husband is not and has asked me to get an abortion. I don't think I get rid of our child but I fear I will loose my husband, I'm such a mess at the moment.

we've only been married since last july. He already has a 14 year old son, he didn't really want anymore but said he would in the future once we were more settled

I have never been in this situatuion, so I am sorry I can't tell you what is right or wrong.
But I don't think that anyone on here can tell you that. By the sounds of it, you want to keep the baby, and thats what you will do. If you are pushed in to having an abortion, it will push or marriage apart as well. But I might be wrong.

i just don't know what to do, it's hard to see a positive outcome at the moment. if i have an abortion i don't think i would ever forgive him or myself and if i keep the baby i might have to do it on my own which will take a lot of strength, wish i could see the future

Oh Summerbee, what a rubbish situation to be in. Have a big *HUG*.
I think that it would be wrong of you to have an abortion if you would only be doing it because it is what your husband wants. I don't think that you would be able to live with yourself or continue your relationship with him in the same way ever again (maybe I am wrong, just my personal opinion).
Are you so set on having your baby that you would be prepared to go it alone?
Having said that, I think that although it may seem daunting and it's no easy option... many women do it and I think that as long as you love and care for your baby you will find a way to provide it with all the practical things it needs.
Whatever your decision hun, I hope it all works out and you feel happy with the outcome.

i think that the only way out of this is to just keep talking to your husband, even if it gets difficult and fraught. both of your need to understand how this is really making the other feel. only then can you make choice about what you want to do.
it is possible to have a termination and not regret it. i have. however, it needs to be your choice and not just his. you need to face the world together. that's what marriage should be all about.
