who do i send save the date cards to??

hello everyone,

Just a little question, do i send the save the date cards out to day and evenin guests?
Im worried if i send them to the evenin guests they wil thnk they are invited all day.

Im a bit stuck, also do these tend to be the same design as the invites?

I was thinking this too, and think we will only send save the date cards to guests who we are inviting during the day, as like you I don't want people to think they are invited all day! For the guests we are only inviting for the evening I am just telling them verbally, but mentioning it will ony be for the evening.
With regards to the design, a friend has designed ours so they are similar to the invites we are having, but not the same.

only send to day guests, if people cant come then you can promote some evening guests to day, and cant do that without seeming awkward if you ahve already told them, the whole point of save the date is so that they can clear the whole day in their diaries its easier to have the evening free or free up the evening for the evening guests. the save teh dates dont have to be in line with your wedding invites although ours are as we are making our own.

we sent them to both day and evening guest, our day guest recieved ones that said please save the date of .. to help celebrate the wedding of...
for the evening we said please save the date of... to join the evening celebration of...

I had the embarrassing task of having to ask someone whether we were coming to the day or evening. We got sent a save the date card but had no indication whether it was for day or evening. As the wedding was a Friday we couldnt wait for invites as we had to book the day off work well in advance so i had to email and ask for clarification. My gut feeling was the for the evening but couldnt be 100%

Im not sure if im going to send them out at all. Ive told all my friends and family when my wedding is and altho they are not really expensive i would rather use the money for these to go towards extra flowers or something
