Subject: Wedding ring - Advice/ideas
Hello girlies

Just wanted some wedding band advice.

I have a 3 stone E ring (emerald cut with 2 trapezium stones on the sides). I really am unsure what to have as a wedding band. I have tried on a few but the problem is my fingers are long and skinny so most rings look funny as they are too big. Im a size I and my E ring band is very very thin.

I like the idea of a bit of bling and have dreamt up a W band with v.slim horizontal baguettes all the way around but the only ones I have seen are quite deep set in wide bands. I want hardly any band visible if that makes sense. Has any of you lovely ladies got or seen something like this? Also I'm unsure whether I should have the band to fit around my E ring or not, decisions, decisions!

We haven't looked at wedding bands yet... mainly as I am having issues with my Ering

but... we spoke to a few people at wedding fairs about wedding bands, whether or not to get one shaped around my E ring... and they made a good point that after a week or so, you wouldn't notice if there was a very small gap between your rings - and also, how would your wedding band look if maybe you wore it alone with out the Ering...

Just a few things to think about. Really worth going to check out some independant jewlers in London - they can give great advice and have lots of samples.

Hope that helps a bit!

Ooh a fellow size I! Apparently it caused problems for my fella when he was getting the ring made...!

Could you post a pic of the ring? It would help us get a better idea of what would look right next to it. Have you thought about having a bespoke W ring made?

I'm an I too!

I think I know what you mean, if you look at the band from the side you would just see the scalloped edge of the prongs, rather than a line? I've seen this with brilliant cut stones, but not with baguettes - I wonder if its not secure enough for the stones.

I have a three stone ring - two diamonds and an oval sapphire in the middle. I was also advised that having the band shaped to fit was probably not a great idea. I had visions of a diamond band, but actually because my hands are so small, it looked a bit fake - it totally took away from the E ring. I've now bought a plain gold band and they look great together, there is a bit of a gap but not much. We've decided that it we make it to a year's anniversary (and making it to the marriage is looking dicey at the moment because of our useless venue causing us stress!) I'll get an eternity ring and live our my diamond band fantasies!

Good luck with the search x

I have an I and a half finger. It is quite frustrating not being able to get the 'look' of your E ring and W ring together isn't it? My E ring is also very fine so I want a fine W ring, I tried on a full diamond band which was tension set (you can't really see much of the platinum around it) it was brilliant cut diamonds I haven't seen it with baguette diamonds but it was very fine and delicate looking. I would ask jewellers if they have anything in that sort of setting.

Exactly what i would have said, i have a gap between my rings as i wear my w ring quite often on its own and felt it would look odd if it was shaped.

P.S. i got marrried on 23 october too lol

I agree that I think I would like the W band to not be shaped around the E ring so that I can wear it alone.

MsGeordieGeek - The 1st one had to go back to the shop as it literally fell off!

Emkahooney - yes think thats what I mean. I really dont think brillant stones will suit my E ring as I think it will distract so its baguetts or no bling.

Gizmo girl - so frustrating as everything in the shops I try looks far too chunky. Im a bit scared to have something made in case I don't like it. I had my E ring made for me but they had a smaller version in the shop which I based it on.

Here is a pic if it helps, apologies for the scrawny hand!

Can't see the pic Coco...! I am not sure if I would have a wband with diamonds still.. my ering is amazing and really want it to continue to stand out. Luckily, the band is quite thick, so i could have small round diamonds placed in a band of the same thickness... but with a thinner band I'm not sure how it would work out..

new mrs b - hope your wedding went well - 23rd oct is obviously a good day to choose!!

Wow your ring is FAB! But yes, I see how thin the band is... also, you can't see too much of the band, so if you had a wband with diamonds underneath it might overwhelm the ring.

Thanks 23Oct - I love it soooo much. I know what you mean about overwhelming the E ring. I wanted a really thin band as I hate the feel of rings so this does not annoy me.

Mrs B - thanks for the pic. Your rings are gorgeous.

Right definately decided to have a W band that is not cut out so can be worn alone.
