Just wondered what time you guys were all getting married at?

We're on a Sunday (10.10.10) and the minister says it's entirely up to us. I originally picked 3pm but now I'm thinking that it might be a bit rushed??

What do you all think??

Alyson

We're getting married at 1.30 on a Saturday.. I originally wanted one but the church could not accommodate us. We have quite a distance to the reception venue, so I didn't want to get married much later than that x

I'm surprised they're letting you pick a time on a Sunday. I have a friend who is getting married on a Sunday next year and they've had to work it around the normal Sunday church services.

I'm no expert, but 3pm sounds reasonable to me! I think that's plenty of time for the reception and everything afterwards.

The wedding planner we spoke to a couple of weeks ago said the best thing to do is pick the time you want everything to end (say midnight, for example) and work backwards, allocating slots of time for the meal speeches, photographs, etc and that should give you an idea of when you need to start.

Well, I'm saying that we've been allowed to pick what ever time we want, he did say that but obviously so long as it was after the morning service which is at 11am and finishes around 12...

The church and the reception venue is basically around the corner from each other so I don't really need to allocate a lot of time for getting from one to the other - the idea is that people can stroll round at their lesiure while we're away for photos...

Hi!

I'm getting married at 1pm on the 22nd, our venue is about half an hour away from the church. I would say if you are thinking of having a 3pm service you will have to wait until 3 o'clock which i don't think i could do as i will be far too excited/nervous and will want to get on with it, also as it is Oct (althought being early oct) the light won't be as good for photo's the later you leave it but if you are having a proffesional photographer that shouldn't be a problem!

Best advice is really what others have stated, work out what you want from you're day, we've left an hour for the service (2pm), half an hour for pictures at the church/ people to mingle until 2.30 then half an hour to the venue which brings us to 3pm, then an hour for photo's that takes us to 4pm canapes and drinks for guests while this is going on/some sort of games (weve thinking of having a dress up box etc...) thenline etc... then meal around 4.15pm 3 course meal and speaches will probably take 2 hours which takes us to 6.15 and weve told evening guests to be there for 7.00 although i'd imagine people will be more like 7.30. Hope this is of some help! xx

I'm getting married on a Saturday (11/09/10) at 3pm. I chose this time so I wouldn't feel rushed in the morning and then once we are at the reception it will just carry on through without anyone going home before the entertainment starts. xx

Yeah, the idea of getting up and rushing around until the wedding doesn't appeal, I'd like to have the time to at least try and relax so I don't think I'd bring forward too much if I do at all.

I guess what I would have to do is just what has been suggested ... contact the reception venue and see what time they would need to close at (it's not a hotel or anything, it's a social club) and take it back from there...

I'm not quite an Oct bride (I'm Nov!) but I am getting married at 3 as well so I thought that might count . Some days I love that we're getting married later as it'll give enough time not to rush and then it'll be dusk when we're married and all romantic. And then other days I have a complete paddy and think 3pm is too late to include everything I want and its all going to be a disaster. Here's hoping Nov 20th I'm having one of my good days....

i am getting wed at 2pm on 2.10.10

I dunno why but i always had 2pm in my head. I am not a fan of noon weddings cos of kids getting hungry and it seems like forever between ceremony and lunch/food etc but 12 doesn't give me wnough time to have brekkie when trying to get my brood ready so i was looking at it from a completely selfish perspective. lol. My h2b wanted earlier but give how long i take to get ready, I need a bit longer. lol i already said 2pm to vicar which in a way is good cos they have a morning service booked (annual nurses service ?!) so 2pm accommodates him better too so h2b agreed that is fine. I also thought about the fact we have a lot of out of towners and it gives them a bit more prep time. any later and our dinner would be too late but our venue is a fair distance away - enough that i am hiring a bus to transport the guests. x

2 we think, although this hasn't been officialy confirmed with venue. Will either be 2 or 2.30pm. Were the same as lifeswife, got lots of children coming and our own 2 to think about. The wedding co-ordinator at the venue said that this was a time most people opted for when having their wedding there. It's a civil ceremony, all in one place so don't have to think about travelling. We have got similar times to miss sparrow in terms of what things are taking place at certain times. Again our wedding co-ordinator gave us a run down of timing.xx
