Subject: Second hand wedding dress - views please!!!
Hi Hun
It all depends how much you love the dress?? If you love it enough it doesnt matter that its second hand- On your day you will be wearing be wearing it for the first time and its your special day and special dress then. Have you been to some bridal shops and actually tried dresses on - you could fall for something totally different - or even try that dress on and really know if its the one you want. Hope that helps.

i really know this is what i want....every dress i try on i compare it back to it!!! But i just cant help thinking on my special day would i wish id have got another dress brand new? Ive tried getting the dress as a sample but it seems even as a sample dress its too expensive!!! So my only option if i want it is to get it used. And i know a sample could have been worn by 100 people where this one has only been worn by 1.

Just me being silly i think. I just cant help feeling like theres a stigma attached to wearing 'a second hand dress!' Im going to go and see this dress this week anyway. Hopefully then ill be able to see how i feel about it!

Thank you!:\)

I'm thinking of a second hand dress too, I've found the one I like for half price, and you've got to remember that 'second hand' in this case, means its been worn once!

Go for it! Its all in the mind that its a problem, I really think its a good way to get what you want. Better than wearing a new dress you don't like so much. The fact its second hand want matter at all once you have it on.

It makes me smile when people refer to a dress as "second hand" Second hand makes you think of charity shops, car boot sales etc - and we are talking about a dress that has been worn by One person for One day. If it was a late wedding perhaps only a few hours! And in a lot of cases with underwear underneath it will have barely touched that persons skin! So definately go for it!
I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food!

try www.sellmyweddingdress.co.uk

I sold a dress on there and would highly reccomend them. They do brand new dresses aswell as used ones. The 1 I sold was brand new as I changed my mind but they have some stunnig dresses at very good prices.

I don't think there is anything wrong with secondhand dresses at all, I have looked around but just didn't find the one I want.

I have since found the dress I want, and I am planning on selling mine at some point when I have finished with it (not getting married for a long while yet) as I couldn't bare for it to be stored forever more, I would love another bride to enjoy it as much as I hope I will!

I would say look on it as a dress with experience It knows how to perform and make you look wonderful because it's done it before. OK so now you think I'm mental, but these dresses have a history and are so beautiful they should be worn and worn again by many beautiful brides all celebrating their special days. I think it's so sad for wedding dresses to be shut in a wardrobe to gather dust when they could be enjoyed by someone else.
And you're right, this dress has only been worn by one other person, whereas a sample one would have been worn by many, pinned a good few times etc.
If this is the dress you love, go for it. When you've got it on and it's yours and had any alterations done, you won't feel that it's second hand, it will just be the dress of your dreams.
Besides, recycling is very good for the planet and if you were wearing vintage dress you wouldn't worry about the original bride, you'd think, wow a dress with history - that's all a second hand dress is! And I agree, in the case of a wedding dress, second hand means somebody else has worn it once for a few hours, I don't think you'd feel bad and I don't think there should be a stigma about pre-worn wedding dresses. Good luck finding your dream dress x

hi i have a second hand dress i order it on ebay and its perfect you would never know its been worn. i tried the dress on in our local bridal shop alfred angelo 1476 but it was £950 then alterations on top total would have been close to £1200 way out of my buget could not find one i liked as much as this dress i wen t onto ebay and found one for £250
+ £15 postage i emailed the seller my satistic to compair with hers and they were very simular and thought if it really did not fit i would just resell it. but it came and fit perfect. really glad i decided to do it left me plenty to slash out on accessories as my dress buget was about £500. hope this helps x x x

I agree with bongogirl, totally! I think pre worn sounds better than second hand in this instance! I bought a sample dress which i have decided not to wear, so I am selling it. To be honest I'd rather give it away than have it sit in the wardrobe unworn, it's someone out there's dream dress!

I say go for it, no one will know except you! brides used to wear their mother's dresses back in the day, they were pre worn! It can only bring you good luck and happy vibes from the bride that wore it before :\)

The bit no one has mentioned is that second hand dresses are often altered to fit the person who has worn them, so it is not like buying an unaltered sample.

I would say keep your eyes open because there are lots of dresses you wont know about that are just as good as SN but you wont know until you try them, for instance I was looking at Ian Stuart dresses but I saw a Nicola Anne dress in the shop and tried it on and was smitten, and I did not even know anything about NA!!

So keep an open mind and go round the shops. What is your budget?
